FORMER PRESIDENT KIKWETE DELIVERS SPECIAL MESSAGE FROM PRESIDENT SAMIA TO CAPE VERDE’S PRIME MINISTER March 29, 2025 PRAIA – Former President Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete has delivered a Special Message from H.E. Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, President of the United Republic of Tanzania, to H.E. Jose Ulisses Correia e Silva, Prime Minister of Cape Verde, and held discussions with him at the leader’s office in the capital, Praia. During their talks, the two leaders reflected on the historical ties between Tanzania and Cape Verde, which have long enjoyed close diplomatic relations. They highlighted the philosophies of the late Amílcar Cabral, one of Cape Verde’s founding fathers, whose vision for African liberation played a key role in shaping patriotism and solidarity in Tanzania during the struggles for southern Africa’s independence. The leaders reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening this bond and leveraging their strong diplomatic relations to foster development and mutual benefits for the people of both nations.

Stergomena Tax aliyekuwa kwenye ziara ya kikazi nchini humo ambapo Tanzania na Italia zimesaini Hati ya Ushirikiano katika Masuala ya Ulinzi. 
Kwa pamoja viongozi hao walifanya kikao cha pamoja na watumishi wa wizara walioambatana nao, watumishi na watendaji wa Ubalozi wa Tanzania nchini Italia pamoja na wawakilishi wa Diaspora ya Watanzania waishio Italia.

Tanzania to benefit from Italy Matei Plan- UNDP Development Partnership Tanzania Minister for Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, Hon. Amb. Mahmoud Thabit Kombo (MP.) participated in the UNDP High-level roundtable in Roma, Italy aiming to unlock sustainable development opportunities for Africa through mutually beneficial partnerships between Italy and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). UNDP is crucial in supporting Tanzania's engagement with the Mattei Plan. With a strong presence in Tanzania and a commitment to sustainable development, UNDP provides technical expertise, facilitates partnerships, and ensures that projects align with national priorities. Speaking at the roundtable Hon. Kombo said "We are looking for win-win situations," emphasizing the importance of partnerships that benefit both Italian investors and Tanzanian citizens. Tanzania has already submitted proposals under the Mattei Plan, targeting key sectors such as climate change, renewable energy, blue economy, livestock and fisheries as well as agriculture. The country is particularly interested in leveraging its established coffee industry to promote climate-smart practices. "We believe coffee can add a lot of value to the climate," the minister noted, highlighting the potential for sustainable coffee production to contribute to economic growth and environmental protection. Tanzania is rich in a great youth population. Minister Kombo stresses the importance of involving the youth in all developmental projects, including environmental initiatives to protect Tanzania's waterbodies from microplastics and their impacts. The UNDP's Youth for Climate (Y4C) promotes youth-led innovative solutions to environmental challenges. Tanzania aims to leverage the Mattei Plan, with UNDP's support. "Together if we take care of Mother Earth, Mother Earth will take care of us all," Hon. Kombo concluded, underscoring the importance of collective action in addressing global challenges.
