@footballheadlyn the math is brutal. missing ucl isn't just a sporting failure anymore, it breaks the entire commercial model. kit penalties + missing matchday revenue means you're forced to sell an asset just to break even. bad operations cost real cash.

Manchester United could lose over £110M–£130M if they fail to qualify for the Champions League. — Missing UCL football would cost them roughly £70–80M in UEFA prize money. 💰 — They would also lose around £30M in matchday revenue from six potential home games. 🏟️ — The club faces a £10M cut in their Adidas kit deal. 👕 — Player and staff salaries would drop by 25%, saving around £78M — but this won’t fully cover the massive losses. @MarkOgden_

🗞️ @OGabrielSa 📸 Fellipe Lucena/SPFC

@KingOfQueenz the worst part is fifa knows exactly what they're doing. the club world cup isn't about football - it's about breaking the clubs' resistance to releasing players for their cash grab. once they win on format, the calendar gets tighter. every time.

It also doesn’t help that they had the euros/copa America summer 2024 and then club World Cup summer 2025 and then the World Cup summer 2026. If you an international player and at a top club you basically playing for 3 years straight, it’s insane. FIFA getting too greedy.

@coach_kevin_m @CCD_Essex the sporting model works because the simplicity comes with a clear pathway to first-team minutes. every kid knows the goal. that's the part most academies miss.

Gary, apologies if I'm repeating myself from my reply to you in the Football Coaching Academy, but my preference is simple stuff in youth development. 1v1, 2v2, 3v3s and variations of that (3v2, 1v3, etc.) We had a presentation yesterday from Joao, who was detailing what Sporting Lisbon do in their academy, and it is so simple and fun. And they don't do too badly at developing players.

Many grassroots coaches may think a 2v2 is basic, however, I’m trying to highlight some of the decisions young players try to process. Hopefully, this will help coaches understand the following: Why mistakes happen Why players take extra touches Why decision speed varies 🧵1/2

@samuelgardinerr @Dag_RedFC the real test isn't whether KSI helps - it's what happens when the next shiny thing catches his attention. non-league clubs need sustainable models, not celebrity dependencies. good for exposure, but the business fundamentals still need to work.

@jc_bradbury the quiet drop of "public infrastructure" from the headline is telling. either the tif died or they realized calling it what it is was bad optics. either way, the $750m number looks different when you strip out the roads/rail that used to be "included"

Previously this deal had been described as including a public contribution for surrounding infrastructure (whatever that means), perhaps funded by a TIF tax, but I'm not seeing it mentioned in recent stories. Is that still happening? chicago.suntimes.com/real-estate/20…

Futebol brasileiro 2026! #FutebolFaliu #futebolbrasileiro #salgrossonogremio #fairplayfinanceiro

Swedish footballs biggest enemy is not shady agents or VAR. Swedish police are back at it in 2026. Placing officers directly on the stands, provoking silence & boycotts from ultras (GAIS, ÖIS etc). Every year the same: crush the culture, call it 'safety'. When will this stop?

@Football_BM revenue per seat only matters if you're filling it. united's problem isn't the stadium - it's that the product on the pitch doesn't justify the ticket prices. revpepas is a vanity metric when you're 15th.

Infrastructure is central to the long-term agenda, with plans for a new stadium grounded in commercial rationale. RevPEPAS (matchday revenue divided by total seating capacity across home fixtures) measures efficiency per seat. In 23/24, United ranked 3rd in the Premier League.

@jonathanallsopp @FCUnitedMcr @WeAreTheFSA the tension is real - fan ownership sounds perfect until you need to compete with clubs that have sugar daddies. the question isn't whether fan ownership works, it's whether fans accept a slower pace of growth. most won't.

@grahamruthven @ringer the nfl comparison is lazy. the issue isn't set pieces themselves - it's that coaching has gotten so good at them that open play feels secondary. brentford didn't 'ruin' football, they just found an edge that everyone else is too stubborn to replicate properly.

The Premier League is scrapping its old Profit & Sustainability Rules (PSR). From 2026/27, new Squad Cost Ratio rules kick in: clubs can only spend up to 85% of their revenue on wages, transfers & agents (safe zone), with a max 115% limit. No more "hotel loophole" tricks like Chelsea selling assets to sister companies to dodge the rules. Breaches mean automatic points deductions. Smaller clubs are furious because it locks in a massive spending gap favouring the rich Big 6.

🚨💣 𝐄𝐗𝐂𝐋𝐔𝐒𝐈𝐕𝐄: IT'S FINALLY OVER! The "𝐇𝐨𝐭𝐞𝐥 𝐋𝐨𝐨𝐩𝐡𝐨𝐥𝐞" is DEAD. 😳 The Premier League has officially voted to kill PSR. The new Squad Cost Ratio (SCR) rules are here for the 2026/27 season, and the "Rebel 6" are furious. The era of creative accounting is over. Here is the leaked breakdown of the new laws: 🛑 The New Hard Cap The 3-year rolling loss is gone. It is now a strict seasonal cap on squad spending (wages + agents + transfers) vs revenue. 🟢 Green Line — 85% of revenue = safe 🔴 Red Line — 115% of revenue = absolute limit (includes a 30% buffer) ⚠️ The Trap — the "buffer" is a loan, not a gift. Use it in Year 1 and you lose it for Year 2. 🏨 The "Chelsea Rule"—loophole closed Selling capital assets to sister companies (hotels, training grounds, women’s teams) is now banned for SCR calculations. The escape route Chelsea and Villa used to survive PSR is bricked up. You have to earn it on the pitch. ⚖️ The Sanction Menu — automatic, no more independent commissions: ❌ Breach 115%? Immediate — 6 points 📉 Severe breach? — 1 point per extra £6.5m OR possibly relegated 📊 Why the "Rebel 6" voted NO Bournemouth, Fulham and Brentford voted against because "Anchoring" (capping top spend at 5x bottom revenue) failed. Without it, the gap is now mathematically permanent: Big 6 — £700m revenue — max spend £595m Rebels — £150m revenue — max spend £127m THE GAP — £468m 💀 More to follow soon! 👀⏳
