In 1961 USU finished number 10 in the AP Poll. The following year Utah, BYU, Wyoming, and New Mexico ditched USU and CSU and formed the WAC. CSU was admitted 7 years later after multiple losing seasons but USU was snubbed despite being one of the best football programs
