Imam al-Zuhri said: “No innovation has been introduced into Islam more harmful to its people than this one”—meaning al-Irjaʾ. (Narrated by Ibn Battah in al-Ibanah). And how truthful the Imam was — for we see the worst forms of this bid‘ah among the Murjiʾah Rejects of our age.

“I am Turkey, and Turkey is me. I am its lungs with which it breathes, so any attempt to destroy me is an attempt to destroy Turkey.” ~Ata Turk~ (May Allah curse him) Similar beliefs are held among some regarding their favorite Politicians. May Allah guide them!

The scholars in this era are of three categories: The first category: Scholars of the religion and scholars of the Shariah, those who speak the truth wherever it may lead. These are the victorious group and the saved sect, whom neither those who abandon them nor those who oppose them can harm. They are the ones who convey the Sunnah of the Prophet (salallahu alayhi wa salam), and they are people of religion and piety. These are the elite of the Muslims. These are the scholars about whom it is said: “Indeed, their flesh is poisoned”, meaning they are people of knowledge, religion, and piety; so no one hates them except due to their religion, and such a person has a sickness in his heart. This does not mean they do not make mistakes, no, they are not infallible. They do make mistakes, but their errors come from knowledge and ijtihād, not from desires, personal interests, or misguidance. Rather, they strive and may err, like others before them. The Sahaba (may Allah be pleased with them) made mistakes, and the Tābiʿīn also made mistakes. The second category: Scholars of the masses. These are neither scholars of Shariah nor scholars of rulers, but rather scholars of the public, mouthpieces of the masses. They issue fatwas according to what their listeners want, fulfilling their desires and preserving their popularity. They may even “buy” the loyalty of the masses to increase their following. The large number of people gathering around someone is not proof that what he carries is the truth. It may be so, or it may not, but it is not necessarily the case. People often gather around what is cheap, not what is valuable. You may see, for example, goods sold cheaply attracting crowds, while expensive, high-quality items are ignored except by those who truly value them. Thus, these “scholars of the masses” give rulings according to public opinion. They neither observe Allah nor fear Him nor seek His reward. When they give fatwas, they consider whether their audience will be pleased with them. They always issue rulings under the pressure of reality, under slogans like “ease,” “flexibility of the Shariah,” and similar notions. But the spirit, ease, and tolerance of the Shariah are regulated by its principles, they are not a matter of personal choice. Allah the Exalted said: “They have no choice.” Ease is not according to your desires; rather, it is according to what is established in the evidences of the Qur’an and Sunnah, within the framework set by the scholars. The third category: Scholars of the rulers. They issue fatwas on demand, whatever the ruler commands, they declare lawful; whatever he forbids, they prohibit. What is the saddest thing? The Saudi gov literally took away the youth of these scholars, youthness that could have served Islām for 100 years to come Sh Nāsir became such a massive scholar & produced so much works while spending majority of his life in jail May Allah free him
