Prosecutor General’s Academy, in collaboration with @MMA_Maldives and @PoliceMv successfully concluded “Investigation and Prosecution of Money Laundering in the Maldives” training from 1 - 3 February 2026. Staff from PGO, MPS, ACC, MIRA and Customs participated, including Senior Public Prosecutor Asir, Public Prosecutors Mohamed, Faraas, Shiuna, Nuha and Aliya. Sessions were conducted by Public Prosecutors Naufal, Shama, MPS investigators and the FIU, MMA officials. Deputy Prosecutor General Aisha took part in the closing ceremony and addressed the participants. The training was funded and hosted by MMA. We thank Maldives Monetary Authority for their continued support in strengthening efforts to combat money laundering in the Maldives.

Prosecutor General Justice (Rtd.) Uz. Abbas Shareef met with the President and Members of Human Rights Commission on Sunday to discuss ways to further strengthen coordination between the two institutions. As an investigative body, HRCM works closely with PGO within the investigator - prosecutor framework, and the meeting reaffirmed the importance of this working relationship.

Prosecutor General Uz. Abbas Shareef took part in the launching ceremony of Strategic Action Plan, MYMCS Portal, and Prisoner Data Management System by Maldives Correctional Service. Congratulations to @CorrectionsMv on this important milestone, marking a significant step forward in strengthening institutional capacity, digital transformation and data driven correctional services.

Prosecutor General’s Academy conducted an interactive training session with @PoliceMv addressing challenges in handling accident related cases. The session highlighted key investigative gaps and emphasized the essential documentation required for effective prosecution. Eighteen police investigators from Male’ and Hulhumale participated in the training, which was delivered by Public Prosecutors Aiman and Naahy.

Assistant Prosecutor General Uz. Hussain Nashid, along with Public Prosecutors Milna and Afshau, met with Drug Court judges to discuss the upcoming amendments to the Drugs Act and their implications for existing court and prosecution workflows. The amendments to the Drugs Act will come into force on 6th March 2026. PGO is working closely with relevant authorities to ensure the effective and smooth implementation of the new changes.
