@rockmeannadeus That’s a fair point. I agree that it wasn’t a *bad* offseason by any stretch, and that it would be a nightmare to replace Breslow at this stage. I worry that the wrong heads will roll because of this, and I say this as a staunch “fire Pete Fatse” guy for the last 3 years

@Ahnoreo the bregman thing was a fumble but it doesn't necessarily mean that he can't or won't ever pursue a bregman-caliber player again, is what i'm saying. the other big moves have been good enough that he can get some leash to see what he does, since firing him now guarantees nothing

@rockmeannadeus I think that’s fair in a vacuum. We have specific reports of key players (Bregman, Bogaerts, etc) they didn’t retain because they were overconfident on the player’s market. And when you lose those kind of guys, it’s more than just stats. It’s identity

@Ahnoreo not everyone gets their guy and every team has to pivot sometimes. some team will always lose out when multiple teams are involved. you can't pivot to a thing that isn't there, so you get what you can. they clearly have two different philosophies

@rockmeannadeus Part of the issue is they had a plan, it fizzled because they weren’t aggressive enough, and the pivots didn’t make sense for the roster as it stood. When you have that much overlap in FA philosophy across two GMs, the problem might just be ownership

idk. i might just not be cut out for capital B Boston capital S Sports but i'm passionate and i care. i just want some consistency above all else, and hiring/firing GMs after 3 years doesn't scream consistency. it also doesn't really matter so no reason to not trust the process
