@StJohnsPriest I did get to see a game at Tiger Stadium in the summer of ‘99. I was a junior in high school and my dad and I dragged my mom on a tour of upper Midwest baseball stadiums. Also got lost in Hamtramck, so it was particularly exciting.

@StJohnsPriest I last visited Detroit in ‘06 but was more interested then in spending time at another type of cathedral at the corner of Michigan and Trumbull during the day, and watching my Astros lose to the home team at night.

@AignerJonathan Now the Ecumenical Theological Seminary - about 4 blocks north of here. Here on the old Detroit Piety Hill the Methodist Church is still open. Baptist, Roman and Unitarian Churches burned over time, and synagogue is now a Wayne State University Theatre.

@StJohnsPriest Craig Biggio used to talk about a doubleheader he played as a rookie. He was hot and tired after the first game and then he went into the clubhouse and saw Buddy Bell getting his knee drained so he could play the second game. He decided not to complain any more.

I know it can make for a long day to volunteer at a day/night doubleheader but I can’t imagine being a player - to play a game, go in the clubhouse and eat and then warm up to play again.

Up on the balcony to close the upper windows this morning. Old fashioned cooling system - HUGE Exhaust fan in the balcony pulls warm out, overnight cool falls in. Now to close it up before it starts letting the warm in too.
