The new section of path on the Jim Soorley Bikeway between Widdop Street and the Nundah criterium track is looking good. Weather permitting it should be open on the weekend.

There were several large pools of water across the Kedron Brook Bikeway at Toombul after the rain on Saturday night. By Tuesday the pools were smaller but still covered parts of the path. We have written to Councillor Adam Allan asking him to improve drainage.

Story Bridge petition closing on Friday: epetitions.brisbane.qld.gov.au/petition/view/… Don’t miss this chance to join almost 1500 others urgently calling on Council to open a lane of the Story Bridge for people walking and cycling. Don’t let the Lord Mayor get away with saying “it can’t be done”.

Today is the second anniversary of the death of Philip Pawsey who was killed whilst cycling to work on Nudgee Rd. A truck driver turning into Long Street ran over him. Airport BUG and the bicycle community will continue to advocate for Council to make Nudgee Rd safer for cycling.

People riding to and from Brisbane Airport need Dickson Street to be safe. Council have cancelled the proposed protected bikeway along Dickson St (again). Please sign the petition for a safe bike route down Dickson Street. epetitions.brisbane.qld.gov.au/petition/view/…

The bike rack at Skygate outside Woolworths at @BrisbaneAirport has been damaged. Hopefully the Brisbane Airport Corporation can replace the bent bits as it is popular and often full at lunchtimes.

@verticalc @space4cyclingbn Only big picture stuff at the moment. We asked for safe paths, good way finding, safe road crossings, racks suitable for scooters, cargo bikes and trikes and charging facilities for e-bikes. Let’s see how we go.

Airport BUG, Space4cyclingbne and Bicycle Queensland met with Brisbane Airport to hear their plans to provide safe cycling access to the Domestic Terminal and a bike parking facility. The existing bike rack at BNE Domestic Terminal is uncovered, difficult to find and to access.

Councillor Ryan Murphy confirmed last night that land has been secured for construction of the long awaited Viola Place bikeway between Viola Place at Brisbane Airport and Schneider Rd at Trade Coast. Brenda is delighted!
