Blaming LNP alone for refinery closures is lazy and factually wrong. Closures spanned Labor & LNP govts – driven by economics: ageing plants couldn't compete with larger Asian refineries. Multinationals (Caltex, BP, ExxonMobil, Shell) made commercial calls. And it was the Coalition that introduced the Fuel Security Act in 2021. Both parties ignored warnings for 20 years.

Australia has gone from importing crude to refine domestically, to just importing the finished fuel directly. We are almost entirely supply-chain dependent on Asian refineries now. 1/2 🧵 #auspol #ausbiz #ausecon

@Cryptorii @ausbtcclub Why would they buy property at 4 percent return when you can more from a bond and not have to deal with tennants?

@ausbtcclub Nope, the rich will just buy up the property off those who can no longer service them. Widening the gap.

We are lucky here in Australia, though the modern governments have deteriorated living standards. And plenty think this property market is safe. The property market will recalibrate to a multiple less than 6x household income because wages aren't going to keep up with a 10x property to income ratio.

@E0_DS0_Omega Yep, that was my frame of reference: 150% up from ‘08 is $220, middle of the range stated — but it could go even higher than that, and likely will.

You would think stories about EV’s flying off the ‘shelves’ during this oil crisis, would write themselves, but nothing. Wonder why? @abcnews #auspol

@wheelreinvent Who lives close enough that they are still within the 40kmh school zone anyway? And would those people bother to ride rather than just walk the few hundred metres?

Victoria’s state government really believes that children riding next to 40kmh vehicles plus some helmet scolding is going to get kids riding to school. Utterly unserious.

@AustRepublican @BrentHodgson Owners corporation also pays for the car park infrastructure itself. The owners benefit from this just like they will benefit from the charging. You can charge higher rent if you can offer this to tennants

@BrentHodgson The costs should been bourn by the EV owner. Not the owners corp or body corporate. If the owners corp pays for it they should be able to run it for profit

Very interesting solution to apartment charging. (Love the Jaunt 911 recondition too.) At a reported ~$1,195 per car park, the charger tech would pay for itself in 13 weekly tanks of petrol - but still requires a capital investment from an owners corporation. 🤔
Sydney EV 🔋☀️@sydney_ev

This is brilliant. So many against EVs as they can’t be charged at home by people living in units. They never offer solutions, or even criticise solution. Well now we have a solution that works!

a barrel of oil can provide as much electricity as a 400W solar panel does annually. a barrel of oil runs $92 and comes with a few minor logistical complications. this year the solar panel should run less than $90; you can order online, ships in a week.

As the diesel fuel price has increased from $2.00 per litre to $2.75 per litre over the last fortnight, the Albanese ALP govt is collecting an extra 6.82 cents per litre in GST Nice little budget kick along. Ignore Albo's crocodile tears.

this is a road sign at one of the busiest intersections in Melbourne. half the sign has fallen off, the other half unreadable due to graffiti, with the sign behind it also broken, leaning against it. and it's been like this for several months
