Today, representatives of the Governments of Uganda and the United States held the first meeting of the new Joint Health Steering Committee (JHSC) to oversee implementation of the five-year, $2.3 billion Health Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed in December 2025.

Today, I joined H.E. President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni @KagutaMuseveni, fellow ministers, and thousands of Ugandans at Nkoyoyo Boarding Primary School grounds in Matale, Buikwe District, to observe the National Celebrations of International Labour Day, themed "Safeguarding Uganda's Progress: Empowering the Workforce and Promoting Decent Work for Competitive Enterprises", an event that reflected on discipline, unity, and the role of security in safeguarding Uganda's progress. I applaud H.E. President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni @KagutaMuseveni and the CDF, Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba @mkainerugaba, for ensuring peace and stability, which has enabled the country's economic progress. As a country, we recognise the invaluable contribution of workers to the national development and renew our commitment to decent work, productivity, innovation, and inclusive economic transformation for a stronger and more competitive Uganda.
