At a council meeting on Monday night, Democratic members criticized the mayor for not giving them enough time to digest her budget plan, which includes significant layoffs and other cuts. Her fellow Progressives, meanwhile, largely sympathized with her for having to make tough decisions. I’ve had a few margaritas so this might be a bit sappy. 🤣 They were jalapeño margs from Fiesta Mexican Restaurant with a heavy pour. So here we go… This was my favorite photo from the shoot…so I’m using it here since this is about the shoot… I’ve been asked, “What prompted you to do the photoshoot? Especially when you’re such a target in town?” I think that is a great question. Here is the scoop… Aside from me being nuts, this is something I have wanted to do for the past 15 years. When I turned 30, I did an impromptu boudoir photo shoot for a friend building her portfolio. It’s something I’ve wanted to do again ever since. For the past two+ years I’ve been kind of a hermit. I had developed major social anxiety, and didn’t trust anyone after resigning from office, which turned into not wanting to go out in public. I knew I needed to regroup and hibernate for a bit…but quickly realized that once I was done hibernating that I needed to get back to being the authentic version of me again. I was on social media before it was a thing. I spent a lot of time surrounded by tech geeks and Silicon Valley folks who tended to share everything on social media. I did the same. I loved and still enjoy sharing pictures and moments with friends and family. The last two+ years started to take that joy from me. I decided that I could not let that happen. Don’t let the haters win. Don’t let them rob you of your happiness. Don’t let them stop you from doing what you love, and certainly don’t let them stop you from being your authentic self. So I made that vow. And I knew once I was back out of my shell, that I would reclaim that strength. The photo shoot was the pinnacle of that. It was the bow on a pretty package of all of the things that I have worked on to bring myself out of the rut and back to my authentic self. Here I am 😘 and I am not going anywhere anytime soon. 🤍
