Disappointing that the latest patches won't be on the physical releases for MOUSE: P.I. For Hire, but very commendable that they are transparent about it. Should be standard behavior. Sadly, too many companies can't be bothered to communicate honestly. Support the ones that do!

@EDROXinc @DoesItPlay1 @_Tom_Henderson_ What’s to find out? Call of Duty was unplayable from disc since Infinite Warfare, which was the last one to work from disc. Ever since you needed accounts, launchers and download packages and from Modern Warfare onwards the disc had like 1 MB worth.

There is this notion being spread by certain twitter accounts that PS5 & Xbox games aren't physical because you need to install them. Completely misses the point of what is the important thing that makes a physical release: independent access to a functioning product.

@DoesItPlay1 Well, there are lots of reasons for that actually. You named two yourself. It’s just that every reason is bullshit and anti consumer.

There is ZERO reason to lock people out of the game through this mandatory online check. Either you deliberately released an inferior product that doesn't work without patches or you want to force DRM on people and try to excuse it with a situation you created yourselves. In the process you have doomed the physical release to become a coaster. Or are you going to keep the download servers up forever?

@DoesItPlay1 Honestly, with Xbox you had no ownership of your games for years now. Smart delivery always meant than only the last gen version was on disc, nowadays most MS games are just a launcher on the disc and ultimately they want you on gamepass instead of buying games.

Multiple media outlets report a rumor that Xbox is secretly working on some form of disc-to-digital functionality. This has HUGE red flag potential. Theoretical use cases aside, the general possibility of forfeiting ownership this easily is headache-inducing.

@DoesItPlay1 Was never expecting anything else. Ubisoft and Bethesda can pretty much be crossed of the list of anyone caring about ownership.

Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced carries the infamous "Internet required" disclaimer. While we won't have confirmation of details until closer to launch, this looks like another release with an artificial killswitch from Ubisoft. As anti-consumer as it gets. Shame!
