Today @LindseyGrahamSC called a press conference. It wasn’t on the state of the roads in South Carolina, it wasn’t on the fact that we have 20x less head of cattle in South Carolina than we did in the 1970s, and it wasn’t on the fact that we had 2000 opioid overdoses in the State last year. He didn’t even attack myself or @MarkLynchSC directly. Instead he spent 30 minutes attacking young staffers on both of our campaigns and calling to repeal the 1st amendment. He says our staffers are cancer that should not only be fired but also need to be “purged from society” because they disagree with him on foreign policy. This is the height of cancel culture. A full on assault on free speech directed at young political staffers by a sitting U.S. Senator. Lindsey Graham is an Un American traitor and I will always stand up for free speech from Young Patriots who want to save our Country.

I don't believe many (most?) in the MAGA community actually support most of Trump's actions and rhetoric. So what explains the alleged support? It's that those in MAGA are so heavily invested in the community, that to admit their opposition to Trump would mean acknowledging a mistake. Acknowledging an error in our ways is excruciatingly difficult; the way we empower those in MAGA to leave is by providing them a new community and off-ramp. That is what we are building at Leaving MAGA.

We are going to see an accelerating tide of these admissions and conversions as the coming weeks and months pass. And the job of those of us who have opposed Trump for years is to resist saying "I told you so," or "you knew better," or "who needs you," but rather to say "thank you for seeing the light," and to ask people who previously supported Trump to help us stand up now for the impeachment and removal of that terrible man so that we rid ourselves of him sooner, rather than later. The survival of our nation as a constitutional republic depends in no small part on such grace.
