A split-state Memorial Day — Tennessee Valley and Southwest Alabama wet, Southeast Alabama barely a drop during the day, but trending wetter this evening. Pure tropical air, dewpoints in the 70s. Daily storms continue all week, then up to 5 more inches possible across the south through next Monday before a drier pattern tries to take hold to begin June.

Storms are active early near the coast, and the southern third of Alabama stays the main focus today (south of an Auburn–Greenville–Monroeville–Mobile line). More rounds are possible into Memorial Day, with the heaviest rain favored in SW AL.

Storms finally adding up across Alabama. Heavy rain from Demopolis to Selma to Montgomery, more building over Birmingham and Tuscaloosa — lightning and gusty winds but none severe here. Memorial Day Monday looks wet. Widespread 2 to 3 inches expected through Friday.

Gorgeous Saturday across Alabama — splash and dash showers, highs in the 80s. The real story is overnight: organized storms push into West Central Alabama around midnight to 1 AM, with thunder waking up Tuscaloosa, Birmingham, Cullman, Gadsden 2 to 4 AM. Sunday gets stormy.
