It's much, much cheaper for a care worker and their dependants than it is for the spouse and non-Brit dependants of a British citizen,who all have to pay IHS

Not understanding a policy is not justification for attacking it. There is no “row back” on settlement. The period is extending from 5 to 10 years. As has always been the case, and explained consistently, we have just closed a consultation that considers transitional arrangements and potential exemptions. Further decisions are currently being made after the 200k responses are analysed. I am in the Home Office to deliver for the country, these changes are needed given the unmanageable pace and scale of change we have seen, we are preventing 1.6 million having access to the already buckling welfare system, over a short period of time. None of this means we do not value contribution of migrants, quite the opposite. The new system will reward contribution and integration. Polling shows that the changes we are making are popular, because they are necessary. We said we’d put country first before the election, that is what we are doing.

@AbiolaDavid01 @MikeTappTweets 15 years proposal will be abandoned. Why is it suffering if they are working and have the flexibility to change employers freely within their sector (a flexible visa framework has been suggested as part of the new proposals)

Some years ago, one of my guys called to borrow £700, saying it was very urgent. I didn’t have the money, so I took an overdraft from Lloyds to send it to him. I told myself I’d just pay the interest, they charged £0.90 daily. He borrowed it for a month. When he sent the money back, I didn’t even tell him it was an overdraft. He just returned the £700, and I used my own money to clear the interest. So I asked, “What did you even use the money for that it was so urgent?” What he said blew my mind. He said: “I took an overdraft and didn’t want to pay interest until my next salary, so I needed £700 to avoid the charges till I got paid.” In my head, I nearly went mad. Me, I took an overdraft to help someone clear their overdraft. Truly, I am daft. 💔

This is the typical life in the UK, Canada, New Zealand, Europe and anywhere abroad. If you’re married, depend on your wife’s money and vice versa. A man’s salary alone can’t run the home abroad except you want to Kpai yourself.
