I’ve never seen such a disconnect between the commentary on this site and what I hear in the real world. I’ve talked to dozens of normal conservatives in real life about the Iran War and I haven’t met a single one who’s actually enthusiastically in favor of it. At best they’re warily optimistic. In most cases they’re opposed. In some cases they’re not only opposed but deeply furious. And yet here if you utter a word of criticism about the war you’ll be shouted down by throngs of alleged American conservatives who allegedly have wanted nothing more than for America to go to war with Iran. It just doesn’t reflect what I see on the ground. That’s not just cope because my position is unpopular with “my side.” I’ve held plenty of unpopular positions. I really don’t care. But in this case the social media vs real world divide is stark and unlike anything I’ve seen before.

@TheGourdKing Not a twist gimmick =/= has no twist. It means it doesn't rely on it for its entire value. The village had already fundamentally resolved its story before the twist. People on Twitter should learn to read (and watch movies).

M. Night Shyamalan's "The Village." Eerie, soulful masterpiece brimming with symbolism and asking the deepest questions about human nature and the origin of evil. 10/10 score and acting. Hated for not being a twist gimmick or slasher (due largely to bad marketing).

They were all the best of their year. It is not arrogance; being a 30-year-old star rarely fits the historical profile of Best Actor winners. They usually win later, often for smaller performances (as in the cases of Pacino and DiCaprio), while O’Toole was never properly rewarded in competition. Chalamet will have his year, and he will continue to be a star and a better actor than the awards dictates.

@MattWalshBlog I see a lot of people agreeing with this point, but this has not been my experience at all. Leftists love AI and conservatives have been wary of it.

A weird thing is that whenever I post criticism of AI, the majority of the people agreeing with me seem to be leftists. It’s pretty much the only position I hold that seems to be more popular with the left than the right. It should be the opposite. My whole point about AI (especially AI in creative fields) is that it isn’t human, it doesn’t have a soul, and we cannot surrender our society to an unhuman soulless algorithm even if it makes our lives easier in some ways. It’s very strange that an argument predicated on the existence of the soul resonates with the left while conservatives tend to scoff at it.
