21 issues for a decent idea 🥀🥀🥀

Venom #261 Venom’s old enemy returns. Reed blasted it off with a sonic weapon and imprisoned it for study. It seemed like a good idea at the time... but now he’s got to work with that alien to save the world – and Venom holds one heck of a grudge!

An interesting article from an editing point of view, balancing multiple creative teams on a thrice a month schedule is a legitimate achievement. Everything that mentions One More Day however leaves the reader feeling a little incredulous. Marc Guggenheim's dual comments on Marvel not wanting a Peter with too many responsibilities and the Mephisto deal being put on the back burner during Brand New Day are particularly noteworthy. The end of the article also includes how some members of the "brain trust" have continued on since Brand New Day with Spider-Man specifically Dan Slott, Zed Wells and Joe Kelly, in a very perfunctory way. True, Dan Slott had an eight year run, his tenure has certainly mixed reactions these days but most importantly any time he's ventured outside Spider-Man it has been to limited success, suggesting that he was kept afloat by the title and not the other way around. Zeb Wells' run needs no further comment save that it has definitely served as a last straw for many people. Then there is Joe Kelly, who's current run generates little interest, an anemic presence in the sales charts and who has evidently decided that issue #1000 of Amazing Spider-Man shall be used for a sitcom plot about a secret cousin. Such glowing resumes, indeed.

Amazing Spider-Man's 'Brand New Day' era redefined who Marvel's wallcrawler was in comics, and it's the inspiration for the next Spidey movie. So we went back for an oral history, and talked to virtually all of the major players. Read on: thepopverse.com/comics-spider-…

We can’t expect Amazing Spider-Man #1000 to acknowledge the big near 20-year elephant in the room or even be remotely decent. Especially when you consider that it’s circle of editors and writers, alongside its intended reader base are a bunch of misogynists and incels.

Man it’s great that you can find value in that, I hope no one brings up a certain thing you said at a con years ago that makes you look like a complete immature edgy ass clown
