@eleanorchats Once I missed a fantastic job offer because the subject line of the email that was sent to me read “OPPORTUNITY”
English

I have just received a legitimate email from a journal that started "Greetings!" and now I don't know what to think.

@psychgeist52 I think not necessarily? For example in Fairbairn’s “moral defense” you were referring to earlier. I think sometimes experiencing guilt or shame protects us from anger and grief - the painful return of bad objects. So it’d be secondary
English

@AlessandroTalia Oh, I see, yes. That's really interesting. I wasn't thinking of it in terms of that distinction. Isn't internalising/externalising two options, often both, of what to do with shame? hmm
English

@psychgeist52 I rather wanted to propose an externalising, but still neurotic version of Fairbairn’s dictum (which captures so well internalising psychology). My formulation is not as beautiful. But for many experiencing guilt is as difficult as it is for some to experience rage and despair.
English

@AlessandroTalia Living in a world ruled by the devil is psychosis, no?

It is good to know that the time when we psychotherapists will be superfluous has not yet come!
