I'm going live in 3h on X with @TRPage_dev , @JordanFinners and @heysandy801 to talk about Shopify Next Gen Event. We'll talk about what this means for Shopify developers and hopefully come up with some hot takes 🔥

I can't stress enough about how big this architectural change it and what difference it makes. We have been building apps for a long a time and one of the things that has dreaded me most - the webhooks! The sheer scale of webhooks is insane! You can't handle that scale with your average webservers. YOU NEED proper infrastructure to handle them. For niche apps, these have been mostly completely useless webhooks with only a few them being consumed and most of them being filtered out on their own infrastructure. These webhooks didn't guarantee (at least) one delivery and for any critical flow, you would have to write a conciliation logic. This is the primary reason, we have been very very far from webhooks and relied on cron jobs at @FoxSellApp. But this CHANGES everything. (At the risk of sounding like an AI 😂) This is not just a feature, this is a complete filtering infrastructure. We can now filter the webhooks and consume very very small amount of webhooks that are just catered for our use case. This is a very well thought out architectural change. The attention to detail here is insane. It's not surprising though, because that is the standard @kinngh operate at! Super proud of the complete team and my brother @kinngh!

Webhooks were built for a simpler time. Next Generation Events are built for ours. Choose what triggers your webhook, shape your payload with GraphQL and run filters before it even hits your endpoint. Now in Developer Preview.

Wide Event last night was a blast, filled with sharp conversations and insights. Somehow we even had lobster on the menu 😅 I'm proud @Hookdeck can support this community, and big thanks to @DsMatie. These things don't happen by accident.

Actually had a chance to chat with @blairbeckwith and @sb18281 yesterday about Techtonic and if you’re going to be in town for DotDev or even if you aren’t, Techtonic will be worth the trip alone. Really very excited about it already 👏 Having to wait until July is the WORST

PSA: Today is your last day to win a Techtonic ticket offered by @Hookdeck & @ShopDevAlliance hookdeck.com/techtonic-give…

I like @mintlify and the support is normally wonderful, but it has been an absolute nightmare this year for adopting new features. We're looking for a new docs solution. Dec 25 - We're given early access and a trial to Agent Suggestions. Jan 26 - We subscribe to a custom plan for like $250/mo and start using Agent Suggestions. I record case study or whatever for it. Feb/March 26 - Agent Suggestions go away, no one notifies us, we wait a week to get rolled into Workflows access. Meanwhile, our docs now have a week gap that I have to go manually write. April 26 - Workflows changes yet again, no one notifies us, I have to go set all the workflows back up from scratch and again write about a weeks worth of docs by hand. May 26 - Billing moves to credits. We get charged almost $2 per credit. OOTB, you get like 5000 credits. Our custom plan gets 150... I ask about canceling it or how this all works... no reply for a few days, and then they release the ability to buy credits. I explain custom plan and how we aren't on Pro plan. I ask if our custom plan has been canceled and if we'll get credited for the last month of wacky workflow billing, I get told to buy a new plan.
