@AXS_UK - having massive problems. I have been transferred tickets for a show tonight but your app isn't working and keeps giving an error message. Your customer service is hopeless. A chat bot that doesn't work, and no phone number. Sort it out.

For those of you involved in British diving... you might have seen that I have put myself forward for a position on BSAC's council. Please take the time to vote, either for me, or another preferred candidate. (Participation is hugely important!) Check your emails for details.

Labour initially pushed the LTA issue hard, apparently aiming to force a Government retreat (as with the 45p rate a few months earlier). That would have spared them from grappling with the intricacies. When that did not work, they went quiet. Ministers counter-attacked by asking "what about public servants other than doctors?" It was clear that they would at least have to answer that question if they wanted to make "we'll restore the LTA and spend the £X raised on Y" an election dividing line. Perhaps that's what they're doing, and perhaps they'll be content to leave difficult questions about retrospection/transitional protections for private sector workers unanswered. But I don't think the "we have committed" quote in the article signals that. The press officer could hardly say "since you ask, we're likely to reverse course on this like we did on bankers' bonuses, but we haven't got around to announcing it".

@MoiraONeill Why oh why does the pension tax system have to be such a mess? Is it because successive chancellors keep screwing with it so much maybe?

Investment conferences in short - 1) UK microcaps are a goldmine (states UK microcap fund manager). 2) UK stocks will outperform for 20 years (says UK fund manager). 3) Private equity set to boom (PE fund manager) 4) Value has never looked better (value fund manager) etc.

If you buy a fund of some kind, one of the 1st things you look at is cost. Might it be the same for markets as a whole? The UK charges 0.5% on each trade. Most other markets do not. Want to make the UK mkt more popular? Abolish stamp duty NOW. @opinion bloomberg.com/opinion/articl…

@FelicityHannah As the mortgage crunch kicks in, those who, ten years ago were living with their parents still are starting to realise they may never fully pay off the house that they now live in... (at least until they inherit their parents' money!) Sad but true for many...

I do think that the older generation’s ongoing belief that they worked hard to buy homes and younger people must be prioritising phones and other nonsense is behind the lack of attention. When we cover this, we always get emails about ‘I lived on beans, they should too’ etc

Totally agree that house prices are out of control. But some of this is also massive expansion of tertiary education surely
