In Houston getting set to hear @VP Kamala Harris as keynote speaker for the 88th annual American Federation of Teachers conference. The union endorsed her candidacy earlier in the week.

It’s calm, warm, and humid now in Port Lavaca. Beryl has moved on and we’re left with a great summer’s afternoon on the Gulf Coast.

Power is back on at our hotel! Not a moment too soon, it was starting to get warm.

Power is out for most of Port Lavaca. Went out a little after 5:30. The people at our hotel front desk said “last time this happened, it was four hours”

I’m in Port Lavaca waiting for Beryl to arrive. There aren’t many people out and about and a fair amount of homes and businesses are boarded up. The eye of the storm will get here in the early morning hours. The breeze is picking up, but everything else is relatively calm.
