during Ramadan my husband, who is Catholic, refused to eat during lunch so that he could sit in solidarity with his Muslim co-workers. despite their reassurances, he said he felt bad. So today, which is a holy day (Good Friday) for us Catholics, his Muslim friends fasted with him until noon and no one had meat. they all had vegan/vegetarian meals. my heart is so grateful for these signs of love ❤️

@EFHutton123 @aawayne I take care of children with cancer and serious blood disorders. When they’re in struggling with chemo-induced nausea, we do backflips of joy when they can finally stomach candy, ice cream, chips, whatever. Then we get our nutritionists involved to tailor their nutrition.

@EFHutton123 @aawayne We literally give children in the hospital saline fluid with dextrose in it when they cannot eat so that their bodies have an energy source and don’t lapse into starvation mode. Yes, if inability to eat persists, we start tube feeds, but still…

One of my firmly held opinions is that if a sick kid in the hospital asks for ice cream or a soda and it's not, like, medically contraindicated, they should get it. Apparently this is now controversial.
