An abandoned dog in Okotoks is receiving widespread support after being discovered alone at a local dog park with a jacket, boots, medication, and a note saying her owners wouldn’t return. The non-profit Pause4change says the dog, named Raiya, was left behind when her owners left the country. She was taken to a veterinary emergency clinic and later placed in the rescue’s care, where staff learned she may have hip dysplasia and a seizure disorder requiring ongoing treatment expected to cost more than $2,000. Raiya has since been placed with a foster family while she undergoes medical assessment. Pause4change is urging the public to help by fostering or donating as local rescues face growing strain and limited capacity.
