@PaulBrandITV Italy is an exception. Look around the world, and you’ll find plenty of stable coalition governments.

Argument in favour of PR is that it is fairer, as obviously it involves fewer ‘wasted’ votes and more closely reflects electorate. Downside is it’d almost certainly require more coalitions which could be less stable, and look at eg Italy where it can foster the extremes.

BREAKING: Labour members have backed a motion calling for proportional representation. First time a major party represented in the UK parliament has suggested ditching first past the post.
