@AliDriverUK Might not be very helpful, but I’ve had a handful of these little mint moths on my nepeta. Also a second type of moth that’s been impossible to capture.
The moth dearth continues. Two moths in the trap last night in decent weather. Not just moths struggling at the moment but all insects by the looks of it. Particularly bad news for bats and insectivorous birds.
@graemelyons@MattEAShardlow@AliDriverUK@Lophophanes I’ve seen a good few daytime moths in my little garden (not sure what kind I’m afraid but will identify and record today). Not really sure how to find and record at night, but definitely noticed while driving there are virtually no moths at all.
@AliDriverUK@Lophophanes It’s not all insects. Bees seem to be doing ok. Spring bugs everywhere. Moth larvae extremely patchy. I’m finding upwards of 200 species a day when surveying. And spiders, which are mainly eating insects, continue to do very well. It’s not all bad.
@ReforestB Is there anything to be done about it? My parents neighbour has an oak, most likely 150 years old +, that is being felled because of subsidence over 40 feet away from the tree. The property is on a clay hill and built 100 years ago, couldn’t possibly be the shallow foundations
Yet another mature street tree that an insurance company wants felled to stop moisture abstraction by the tree and avoid property subsidence.
This time a 100 year beech tree in Cambridge.
If soils are drying out, must we remove every street tree?

@helenwithers@_JoelAshton It’s scary how fast they seem to be disappearing, but hopefully we can all do our part and create little havens. The garden is so low maintenance and it’s so beautiful! Much better than a fully paved or astroturfed garden.
@AlexJBawden@_JoelAshton That's wonderful. I'm really happy for you. After being surrounded by fields of buttercups, daisies, grasses at the weekend and seeing not one bee, it's cheered me up.
@helenwithers@_JoelAshton Since adding in lots of native species and plants for pollinators, we’ve had starlings, dunnocks, wrens, blue tits, bee fly, bumbles, a newt, hover fly etc! The earth is heaving with worms as well so I’m hoping there are lots of other creatures I’m not seeing too.

@voteLyubka Hi Lyubka, I had a question about one of the items you oppose on your flyer. What are the ‘adult themes entertainment’ you are describing in sex education? And are you opposed to gender identity being discussed and taught in schools and libraries? Thanks!
@AlexJBawden@efgreens@eppingforestdc@EppingForestHT@CpreEssex@ActionEpping I'd suggest that you write directly to the District Council's Cabinet Member for the Environment but there isn't one.
The closest relevant portfolio - Environmental and Technical Services - was ditched by the Council's Conservative leadership a couple of years ago. [7/7]
@efgreens tree felling, glyphosate use, and unnecessary cutback of wildflowers in Buckhurst Hill. Is there anything the local community can do to change this? We’re in a climate crisis and @eppingforestdc are mismanaging our local environment.
It’s incredibly disheartening.
Thank you and c’mon . Nearly ten thousand have added their signatures to this important petition and now the target is within reach ! Please sign and pass on with a polite plea ! petition.parliament.uk/petitions/6267…

@_JoelAshton Hi, I’m trying my best with my (much) smaller garden, and I’ve used your book as a template, but are there any key things I can do to ensure I attract and support wildlife more? I have native/pollinator planting, a water feature, and a nature pond.
My #garden isn’t huge, but in 5 minutes today, I saw Wood Pigeon, Blackcap, Collared Dove, Great Tit, Wren, Goldfinch, Blackbird, House Sparrow, Robin, Magpie, Jay, Starling, Blue Tit, Chaffinch, Greenfinch, Goldcrest & L.T.Tit. All in an urban setting. Gotta❤️a #wildlifegarden🌳
@TfL Buckhurst Hill, I’ve just got on a train after a 20 minute wait. Just give people a heads up if trains are delayed 😩 it would solve so many issues
@AlexJBawden Hi Aelx, thanks for getting in touch and sorry that your journey has been delayed. Please let us know which station you are departing from and your destination. We will check the next train time for you here. Thanks, SW.
@gardentrading I received a gifted item from you damaged and improperly packaged, and now I have to pay out of pocket to send it back. Not the great service you used to have at all.
