Live look into me currently I am in the mf trenches Went for a walk, thanked god for the opportunity to be so stressed, and got right back to it. Right when you feel like saying I quit is the moment you’re on the brink of a breakthrough. Note to self: Stfu and keep going

We landed the warehouse job! Best part is they have three other buildings they want the interiors painted for and we are doing estimates this/next week. Commercial is unmatched. SEO is unmatched
Alex Lathery@AlexLathery

This church job we landed from ranking on Chat GPT We've already locked $27,691 in painting the auditorium We just got verbal acceptance on two extensions worth $54,854 of work We still have an estimate to do on painting the exterior And Friday we hear back about a $49,611 warehouse bid... what a time!

@AlexLathery Are you doing case studies for these commercial jobs? I can point you to a guy on the west coast who went from being a house painter to an in demand commercial painter doing high-end/high dollar commercial projects based on a single case study...done correctly

@JamesonCamp Yes purely sarcastic. We get 60-75% of our leads for our painting business from Meta Ads

Paid marketing is the crudest game a local service business can play. It’s admitting you can’t generate demand organically. It restricts creativity. Turn off your ads and let the market find your plumbing company
andrew chen@andrewchen

lots of AI cos starting to experiment with paid marketing so here’s my take: Paid acquisition is a tax on your product's defensibility. the moment you can't out-spend the incumbents and competitors, you die. build channels that get cheaper as you grow or you're just renting your growth

@AlexLathery organic works until you need to scale faster than word of mouth allows the best businesses use both one builds brand, the other buys time

The biggest mistake people make with AI content is they give it nothing unique to start with. So they end up with the same blog posts, social posts, and pages everyone else can generate. That stuff doesn’t work. - It’s not interesting. - It’s easy to copy. - And it usually feels generic because it is generic The people who win with AI are the ones feeding it real material: - Unique insights - Local knowledge - Real opinions - Actual experience That’s what makes the output feel original and that's what drives rankings, impressions, and leads

@AlexLathery Hell yeah brother! I need to find me some of these. These jobs sound way better than Residential 3 room repaints.

This year we’re leaning heavily into simple job-site videos thanks to some solid advice off X Most of ours take: - 60 seconds to film - 60 seconds to add captions in CapCut No crazy editing. Just document the work. They consistently get 2–3× the reach and engagement of any other format we test.

Viewing all purchases I make in my personal life relative to post-tax income has given me a lovely look at how stupid some purchases are. Ex: you make $200k a year and buy a $100k car…. No you take home $125k a year and just bought a $100k car… Feels a lot more dumb that way

Have a great website (good page quality, pages for every service, location, have FAQs built in that target AI searches, research in chat GPT what it recommends and why and emulate that) Outside of website you need a good reputation (on Google, on Yelp, on other review sites) Social media presence and activity can help too if those are being listed in search results In short: have a strong presence in all channels (search, directories, forums) and have an SEO optimized website
