Hi Keith,
My second baby was born by elective caesarean (at Treliske, as it happens). She is now a thriving one year old.
My first baby died during labour because we were denied the emergency caesarean she needed to live.
Various investigations have found that anti-intervention, anti-caesarean views have contributed to the deaths of babies across the UK. Please read the Ockenden and Kirkup reports. The risks of vaginal birth to mother and baby can be enormous and include injury and death. Individualised care demands ALL risks are weighed properly, rather than looking at caesareans in isolation.
I'm sure you feel/felt you were making a benign, factual observation about an abdominal surgery, but you have not. Instead, you've repeated 'normal birth' talking points that contribute to the deaths of hundreds of babies annually, and unknown numbers of (because they are uncounted) wholly avoidable injuries to mums and babies.
If you would like to hear more about these issues please let me know. I live in Cornwall so it shouldn't be too difficult to arrange a proper conversation.
