To put our £6.1m loss into context, this is the table for L2 clubs from 2024 (not many have submitted 2025 accounts yet).
Given our turnover was around £6-8m, that means we spent around £12-14m last year! 😲😲😲
All to end up back in the same league. Value for money?

@tom_kenny84 We absolutely need to have more footballing brains, but you have to spend money to get out of leagues nowadays. Our business last year (for the most part) was good business as well. I think Carol spending so much to get us back to L1 was a way of apologising to the fans

@AlexManning14 Stockport are light years ahead of us now. Where has the £17m loaned got us? Back to L2. Recruitment terrible. Player development terrible. I'm grateful that Carol supports us financially, but it's been an absolute waste. We're so badly run.

Port Vale lost £6.1m in 24/25, when the club finished 2nd in League Two. That works out at £117,000 a week...in League Two. This takes total losses to over £17m from when the company that currently owns teh club was formed in 2014 The club's losses were underwritten by a £19.6m loan from owners.

@tom_kenny84 It’s high, but most clubs are running at a loss. Stockport were at 7 mill loses the year they went up. 3 years ago L2 clubs were averaging the thick end of 2.5 mil in loses. That will only have gone up. It’s a sign of the times but Carol is thankfully funding this

@darcy3217 @AddBrown The striker position is an area we have to add to, but that was the same as last time and we managed to find 2 capable strikers. I’m a very glass half empty sort of person will the vale, but I think those 7/8 players will be very handy in L2

@darcy3217 @AddBrown Respectfully disagree on Smith. Club legend for sure, but I think people have very short memories at just how bad he was in that relegation season. This squad has massively underachieved. I fully believe that 23/24 squad overachieved by not finishing bottom and down by Feb

@darcy3217 @AddBrown I disagree somewhat. That core of players is light years better than what we had 2 years ago. Think we only had Garrity, Smith, Debrah and Ripley that were regular starters last season. I personally feel that those 8 players are top end L2 at the very least

@AlexManning14 @AddBrown I think our owners will give Brady what he wants to get us up. If any player thinks he is better than league 2, or if we have 4/5/6 players who are better than league 2 show them the league table. Theres only GH that is good enough to feel that way and will command a decent fee

@AddBrown @AlexManning14 Not being argumentative but i trust our manager, if he wants to take the money and reinvest then so be it. We all want to keep specific players but the manager knows what he wants for next season and i will back his decisions

He’d struggled with injuries before Vale gave him time to recuperate properly. Not surprising given how he runs like the wind.

He got us up a year earlier than we probably should have given that squad (on paper) was nowhere near top end L2 and the tragedy with his daughter that happened that season
