High winds over the past few weeks hasn't made is easy to get out but finally some good weather allowed for a walk at Dawlish Warren this week. Great views of a couple of Sanderling and this Bar-tailed Godwit allowing a good opportunity to improve my ID skills.

There is no case for HS2 in 2021 . Costs have more than doubled since it was voted on in Parliament & it won't be carbon neutral until well beyond 2050 , our target for achieving #NetZero .

Grim’s Ditch was an ancient woodland and scheduled monument dating back to at least the Iron Age .

Always great fun to be out ringing with Matt but even more amazing on Sunday. Truly awesome to see all UK species of Owl as well as having a good flow of Yellowhammers and Reed Buntings plus a couple of Corn Buntings. The Salisbury Plain never fails to disappoint!

There are 5 species of owl in the UK. Yesterday we ringed them all in one incredible session on the Salisbury Plain. We ringed 3 Short Eared Owls, 2 Long Eared Owls, 1 Barn Owl, 1 Tawny Owl & 1 Little Owl. We also retrapped 3 Barn Owls ringed as nestlings = great survival data.

Monster 16 hour day in the field. Started with a Tree Sparrow RAS session with a bonus of 9 Swifts ringed. Checked 43 active Tree Sparrow nests & ringed 40 nestlings. Found a Whitethroat nest & saw 100+ Yellow Wagtails in small flocks proving a successful breeding season.
