Good to meet with the UN PRs of Jamaica 🇯🇲 and Haiti 🇭🇹 to share takeaways from my recent missions. We discussed hurricane recovery and resilient livelihoods in Jamaica, and stability, elections, and youth opportunity in Haiti. @UNDP stays and delivers when crisis hits.

Their expanding collaboration is also strengthened through the development of the UNDP Centre in Rome into a key hub for the agency's work. Good exchanges this week with @UN Permanent Representatives. Development is an investment in global stability, economic opportunity, and shared resilience. @UNDP remains committed to partnering and delivering impact where it matters most.

Grateful to @AOSISChair for a strong exchange. From climate resilience and debt to energy access and the blue economy, Small Island Developing States face tough choices. @UNDP works with them to turn solutions into results.

Good meeting with UN High Commissioner for Refugees @BarhamSalih. With 117 million people displaced worldwide, development is part of the answer. @UNDP and @UNHCR will work more closely together to reduce long-term displacement.

Sustainable development needs markets that deliver for people. At this week’s @USUN breakfast on Capital for Development, I spoke with Amb. @michaelgwaltz about how @UNDP helps create investable markets that unlock financing and private investment, and strengthen stability.

Good to meet Council of Europe Secretary General Alain Berset today. Democracy, human rights and the rule of law are the foundation of everything we build. @UNDP and @CoE stand on the same foundations. Now it’s time to do more together, especially in Ukraine & fragile contexts.

Today, @UNDP, @UNWomen, Brazil, the Netherlands and Ukraine joined forces at #CSW70. Too often women in crisis are told: justice comes later. But delaying justice does not create stability. It deepens inequality and fuels impunity. Women need justice that works now.

Development doesn’t move forward without women. It doesn’t succeed without their leadership. And it won’t last without their rights. This #IWD2026, we’re not just celebrating. We’re committing.

Wrapping up my visit to Jamaica. Five months after Hurricane Melissa, communities are rebuilding. In Galleon Beach, solar-powered cold storage helps fishers protect their catch and strengthen livelihoods. Resilience in action, with support from @UNDP.

Boats destroyed. Gear lost. Cold storage gone. Hurricane Melissa brought devastation to fishing communities in Jamaica. Today, I saw what recovery looks like: solar power restored, fish back at market, a community determined to rebuild. @UNDP is proud to partner.

Jamaica has long enjoyed a strong and productive partnership with the United Nations Development Programme, working together to advance sustainable development, and improve opportunities for our people. In keeping with this important relationship, I met with Alexander De Croo, the Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) to discuss how we can continue building on this collaboration for the benefit of Jamaica. Our discussions focused on supporting economic growth, strengthening climate resilience, and ensuring that our development efforts create lasting impact for communities across the island. I welcome the continued partnership with the UNDP as we work together to deliver meaningful and sustainable development for Jamaica.

Development and security go hand in hand. Few places make that clearer than 🇭🇹 Haiti, where I met with government, private sector and youth leaders. determined to turn the page. @UNDP stands ready to deliver alongside them.
