I sympathise with Pasolini because he was disgusted by the modern world in a way that the discord-using, live-streaming 'online right' can't even understand, let alone approach.

Tax is the tithe that has supplanted any individual notion of duty to society. As long as one throws a monthly fee into the tax hole of abstractions, you are free to participate in whatever self destructive behaviour takes your fancy, whilst everything in your vicinity rots.

Our nations used to be built upon thousands of small circular economies that formed a sturdy tapestry of interconnected chain links. Today the links are all being debased and any value they do create is slowly clipped off into an international pool of wealth.

An economy that merely adds value, but ultimately doesn’t create it, can never be sustained.

People extol the virtues of getting involved in ‘local politics’ but it only takes 5 minutes on a local area’s Facebook page to see you’ll just be litigating the issues of cranky boomers who are essentially asylum ward inmates. This is not productive.

By hook or by crook, all the spurious narrative foundations that the last 80 years of liberal mythos were built upon will be destroyed. No one cares about Martin Luther King or the Battle of Cable Street when cities are being razed and whole populations are put to the sword.

The profession of 'writer' is a dubious one in a world of simulacrum. In its essence, writing is about translating emotion induced by experience. But the sensory imperative that informs great writing dulls when all 'experience' is mediated through heavily controlled scenarios.

A museum culture has an inbuilt entropy. Past a certain point, merely maintaining artifacts and ruins is not sustainable, however much we cling to them. A new elite will have to create new monuments and superstructures of meaning that will be put to the test in iconoclastic wars.

@vulgarheidegger The end game of runaway individualism. All the inheritance that surrounds you is just something 'someone else did'. You are just a individual floating in disjointed time, having to build everything from scratch again. Also, inheritance creates 'inequality' didnt you know...

@Alexanderofldn No one wants to talk about this because assets are expensive compared to working class young people’s incomes. Our entire generation refuses to recognize the inherent wealth they were born into.

There is a higher concentration of commensurate wealth in the west today compared to its historic peaks. Yet the societies and conurbations we build are uglier and more soulless than they’ve ever been. Capital alone does not fix a fundamental lack of moral orientation.

@kunley_drukpa under the auspices of yookay-dom, Britain has brought old world colonial policing strategy back to its own shores.

@93vintagejones Yeah the rightoid pushback on this was rather silly too I thought. The yookay government really has defacto ‘designed’ the economy in ways that have led to all the current tax cliffs, and growth ceilings that we are seeing now. The soviet style wage stagnation confirms it.

There are so many people I meet today who were born happy and healthy and with all sorts of potential. Yet the social arrangement they were given simply alienated them. Then the dysfunction that came about as a symptom of this alienation was diagnosed as an individual pathology.

Social maladjustment today is so quickly diagnosed as the result of some individual psycho-pathology or ‘neuro-divergence’. In reality I think most people are just ontologically misoriented in a world that has experienced a level of deracination hitherto unknown.
