I'm a geographer fascinated by nature. I'm interested to study relationships between everything with focus on permafrost Arctic landscapes dynamics.

Every time I see the Yedoma Ice Complex, it is amazing😊This year I was lucky to see the Mamontovy Khayata exposure at Bykovsky Peninsula, Laptev Sea, from the sea bottom. You can see a bottom nishe due to wave work and how microtopography follows by permafrost and its thawing

I was upset that Mask destroyed the Twitter, but now I'm terrifying what Mask is doing as politic together with other old (and not) inadequate crazy guys with enormous power. What next?... I finally moved to the bsky, hope to see some of you there.

The way we treat our planet will make or break our future. It’s in our hands. On #BiodiversityDay and every day, let's all be #PartOfThePlan and take action #ForNature by halting and reversing the loss of biodiversity.

Today is #EarthDay 🌍 But really, it should be every day. Take a moment to marvel in the beauty of the #Arctic – the very ecosystem we're working to conserve 🦌🐋 🦭🧊❄️ Here's a female mom with her two cubs 🐻‍❄️🐻‍❄️🐻‍❄️ 📽️: © Pond5 / WWF-UK

#DYK that “Pingo” is Inuvialuit for small hill? The Mackenzie Delta has the highest concentration of pingos on Earth – close to 1,350 of them.

Putin is for the war, holed up in his bunker. Navalny was for peace and was ready to go to the end. Navalny gave hope, and continues to give hope. No matter how painful and unbearable it is now.

Happy Hiking Day! One of my best hikes was around Seward (Kenai Peninsula, Alaska), the northern area of the Sitka spruce, the tallest tree of the boreal biome - up to 100 m! And one of my dreams came true - awesome hiking day in increadible taiga rainforest💚

New Polar Pod episode! 🎉 Come and explore the ice-age mammoth steppe with us and discover why it has been dubbed a Serengeti of the North, and how the dynamics of this ecosystem led to so much carbon being stored in permafrost today. 🦣🦣🦣 buzzsprout.com/1977380/share

Most of Earth’s near-surface #permafrost could be gone by 2100, an international team of scientists has concluded after comparing current climate trends to the planet’s climate 3 million years ago. Professor emeritus Vladimir Romanovsky of the @uafairbanks Geophysical Institute is among the co-authors. Romanovsky is a leading scientist in permafrost research. gi.alaska.edu/news/study-nea…
