The way we treat our planet will make or break our future.
It’s in our hands.
On #BiodiversityDay and every day, let's all be #PartOfThePlan and take action #ForNature by halting and reversing the loss of biodiversity.

Really well done 16 minute video by The Economist showing what 3°C of global warming might entail. This is not a world I want to live in.

Out new paper just came out, investigating the ecosystem effects of reindeer grazing on soil carbon storage in northern Finland!
Boreal Environment Research@BorealResearch
This new study on reindeer impact on soil carbon storage revealed that animal impacts are very different for permafrost and non-permafrost areas but facilitates more productive vegetation @PecHEc_project @AWI_de @CharterArctic Read more here: borenv.net/BER/archive/pd…

New Polar Pod episode! 🎉
Come and explore the ice-age mammoth steppe with us and discover why it has been dubbed a Serengeti of the North, and how the dynamics of this ecosystem led to so much carbon being stored in permafrost today.

Most of Earth’s near-surface #permafrost could be gone by 2100, an international team of scientists has concluded after comparing current climate trends to the planet’s climate 3 million years ago. Professor emeritus Vladimir Romanovsky of the @uafairbanks Geophysical Institute is among the co-authors. Romanovsky is a leading scientist in permafrost research. gi.alaska.edu/news/study-nea…
