@coachingharrell Effective principal leadership goes beyond managing people, but truly building relationships to grow and coach them. I value a leader who truly "sees" their team in utilizing transformative leadership practices. #GSUEdLead

Principles can be a vessel to engage teachers in a deep examination of student strengths and needs in a diverse arena. Grissom et al. (2021) share that the use of book studies is a valuable tool for this exploration #GSUEdLead

@LakeshaLWallace I appreciate the focus on motivating and growing teachers with constructive feedback. This means that truly your principal is coaching their team up which further promotes growth in their school community. #GSUEdLead

Effective principals understand how to leverage their people skills, instructional know-how, and organizational management skills to be impactful beyond student achievement. They also grow teachers, build a productive school climate, and manage resources well. #GSUEdLead

PLCs must promote teacher and scholar growth. Leaders, need to cultivate cultures that promote psychologically safe learning communities, keeping scholars front-of-mind. Which ensures teachers are prepared instructionally and grounded in constructive feedback. 3/3 #GSUEdLead

Reason being, leaders "must possess the skills that enable them to provide effective, structured feedback to teachers, with the goal of motivating them to refine their practices." A leader who "coaches up" to develop their team, is a leader who is transformative. 2/3 #GSUEdLead

In connecting effective principal leadership to student achievement, the Wallace Foundation synthesized skills and behaviors leaders need to be successful. Of the three broadened categories, "skills and expertise to support instruction," is most impactful for me. 1/3 #GSUEdLead

@coachingharrell I agree. Something has to give. It appears as though attendance is an issue school networks are struggling with across the country. Unsure of what the state and federal educational policy makers will provide as a probable solution for the future. #GSUEdLead

If attendance is a concern in education, is this an indicator of our future job market? Is it time for education to rethink the current institution, structures, and constructs of attendance? #GSUEdLead

A concluding finding by Grissom, Egalyte, and Lindsey (2021) states that principals have an effect on student attendance and discipline, which will impact their future job attitude and retention.#GSUEdLead

Principals really do make a difference and their impact reaches far beyond student achievement. From teacher retention to culture and attendance, the magnitude and scope of principal effects are immense. #GSUEdLead

What I found most interesting is the small margin on the effects of an individual student when a teacher transitions from their role versus a principal. The impact of both, is losing a month of math and reading instruction. Prinicpals really matter. 3/3 #GSUEdLead

This impact goes beyond academic achievement. Discipline and attendance are also important for the long-term success of students. Effective principal leadership is felt across the student body and faculty in a school community. 2/3 #GSUEdLead

According to the Wallace Foundation's Quantitative Studies of Principal Effects, "students learn substantially more in both math and reading with more effective principals." Thus, principals impact student outcomes. 1/3 #GSUEdLead

@LilLiteracyLady Kelsey, I love your noticing and your question... Who determines that? I believe the needs of every school community look and feel different. Saying that the demographic hired into that leadership role are not as likely to hire a Black and Hispanic school leader. #GSUEdLead

According to How Principals Affect Students and Schools, male principals have fewer years of teaching experience (10 yrs) on avg. than their female colleagues (13 yrs). How do we perceive who is ready for leadership and when? Are our measures subjective or objective? #GSUEdLead

Leadership is on every level. From every scholar, to every family, to every teammate, to every brick, in my building. As the school leader, these are all under my scope of leadership. It is pertinent that leaders maintain a mindset that prioritizes their stakeholders. #GSUEdLead

The implications on "Building a productive school climate" as a category for what school leaders' should possess to produce positive outcomes is what I will focus on. I believe that leadership is on every level. That includes Data Dives and Lesson Internalizations. #GSUEdLead

The Wallace Foundation's, "How Principals Affect Students and Schools," people, instruction, and the organization were identified as the "three overlapping realms of skills and expertise that school leaders need to be successful" (Grissom et al., 2021). #GSUEdLead

@MrHines_IST Hey Darrell! John C. Maxwell's books have been extremely helpful on my path of leadership. The first book I read of his was, "The 21 Indispensable Qualities of a Leader." There are so many gems that I carry with me everyday, and I read this book almost 5 years ago. #GSUEdLead

@MsBenefield Sustainability is the goal. I love that school networks have included "Wellness Days," for its staff members. Not that we weren't taking them already, but to have the option to "take a day," and it not be considered as sick leave or PTO, is amazing. #GSUEdLead

Regression to the mean is defined as performance fluctuation. It's natural to have extraordinary performances followed by a moderate one. It's not a sign of inadequacy. The secret to sustained achievement in any team is to foster steady growth and set reasonable goals. #GSUEdLead
