I always try to keep my SW in such a state that incremental improvements can be easily made. But when I see an opportunity to increase value dramatically by a disruptive change, I am not afraid to break the egg.

Continuous improvements vs complete rewrite is really a question of beliefs. Pragmatically, we should consider both strategies to maximize value.
