Ad account audit red flag 🚩🚩🚩 You’re a brand who has asked a new agency to audit your ad account, managed by your current agency… The audit comes back “⚠️ your highest spending ads have a low ROAS, and ads with low spend have a high ROAS… … Your current agency are spending against the wrong ads 😡 you need to drop them” Two things that can and will cause this: - statistical significance, ads with low spend, generate a couple of sales, this communicates almost no indication of their quality or potential performance at scale - the breakdown effect, as you’re winning ads get more spend, the platform serves them to less in-market audiences, a decline in performance from their early days is replaced by scale. I’ll share two pieces of content on these topics…

New Ads Manager feature in some ad accounts: 1-day engaged-view! This sheds light on how the system overcounts and over-attributes non-incremental 1-day view conversions. Most view-attributable conversions are 💩, check this tool to see how many of your "purchases" are actually just taking credit for something else. If someone scrolls straight past your ad and converts within 24 hours (due to some other factor), that shouldn't count as a conversion and you shouldn't want to optimize for that. If you're still using 1-day view attribution, you're letting the system be lazy and rewarding it for going after the lowest-hanging fruit. Check this tool to see how much of it is trash.
