@Fred_Blurst @HillCountryHero @prestonstew_ They’re obsolete, that’s why they’re so vulnerable. They’re not worth their procurement price. That’s like saying a wrecked 15 year old car is worth what you originally paid for it. It isn’t.
English

@HillCountryHero @prestonstew_ That’s nearly a billion dollars in losses just for the MQ-9s. It absolutely is fair to include them in the count, you dolt
English

The Congressional Research Service just listed the 42 US aircraft lost or damaged so far during the war with Iran.
4 x F-15E Strike Eagles destroyed
1 x F-35A damaged by Iranian ground fire
1 x A-10 destroyed
7 x KC-135 Stratotankers (2 destroyed, 5 damaged)
1 x E-3 Sentry AWACS damaged
2 x MC-130J destroyed
1 x HH-60W helicopter damaged by small arms fire
24 x MQ-9 Reapers destroyed
1 x MQ-4C Triton destroyed

English

@HillCountryHero @prestonstew_ They’re not meant to be lost, but the reapers are obsolete. The price quoted was their procurement price, not what it would cost to functionally replace them. Newer replacement drones are cheaper and more disposable.
English

@prestonstew_ The drones are kinda like, expected to be lost. That's what they are for. Not really fair to include them in overall count.

@mask_bastard Those MASK toys were great. 6 year old me loved them.

@AlfredDuffel @jpodhoretz I’m sorry to disappoint you but the skin tone of Ancient Greeks was brown as hell
English

this fight is bananas anyway. who knows what shade of skin the Greeks and Trojans had. We don't even know if Troy even really existed
Sonny Bunch@SonnyBunch
See when I say they’re morons this is the sort of thing I’m talking about: he literally just won seven Oscars for OPPENHEIMER, a movie with an almost entirely white cast.

@5149jamesli He’s fantastic. LA could be a great city again with real leadership.

@NUCLRGOLF @_benparsons Are the food and non-alcoholic drinks free like they were last year? Because that was awesome.

@CMDR_PKSeven @TrekMovie The captains and admirals at the meal worm dinner didn’t seem to be doing well when the Bluegills left their bodies. Regardless, this is what Matalas said when asked why he didn’t use them as the villains.
English

@AlfredDuffel @TrekMovie Admiral Quinn turned out fine. Remmick was obviously lost but what the phasers are what killed the hosts; even then they never really clarified whether the hosts were able to tank a kill shot and were just KOd or if they did die outright, but Quinn was stunned and survived.
English

OTD, Star Trek: The Next Generation's "Conspiracy," with its unresolved ending that was never followed up on. Robert Schenkkan, who played Remmick, is a Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright and co-wrote the film Hacksaw Ridge.

English

@CMDR_PKSeven @TrekMovie Terry Matalas said that the reason he didn’t want to use them is that possession by the bluegills killed the host, and he didn’t want to kill any legacy characters so he could save them for a future show. Impersonation by a Changeling didn’t have that problem.
English

@TrekMovie I still love that episode. I wish we had got a follow up on screen, even though elements were ultimately reworked into the Borg.
Imagine if they had been the antagonists in Picard season 3.

@DannyDrinksWine You’re in trouble if you’re asking early 1980s Carrie Fisher to stop someone from using cocaine.
English

According to Dan Aykroyd, the budget for "The Blues Brothers" (1980) included "Cocaine" for night shoots.
He said, "Everyone did it, including me. Never to excess, and not ever to where I wanted to buy it or have it. [But] John [Belushi], he just loved what it did. It sort of brought him alive at night—that superpower feeling where you start to talk and converse and figure you can solve all the world’s problems."
John Belushi put off rehab for his worsening condition in order to complete the movie. He told his wife, “I’m fine, I can’t stop now until I finish the movie. It’ll be fine when it’s over.”
For all the efforts of his friends and colleagues, Belushi was surrounded by enablers, according to Ned Zeman, though Landis did his best to convert them: “For God’s sake,” he told Carrie Fisher when she arrived on set, “if you see John doing drugs, stop him.”
John Belushi's addiction was so bad that he disappeared while filming one of the night scenes. Dan Aykroyd looked around and saw a single house with its lights on.
He went to the house and was prepared to identify himself, the movie, and that they were looking for Belushi. Before he could, the homeowner looked at him, smiled and said, "You're here for John Belushi, aren't you?" The homeowner told them Belushi had entered their house, asked if he could have a glass of milk and a sandwich, and then crashed on their couch. Situations like that prompted Aykroyd to affectionately dub Belushi "America's Guest." The two of them walked back to the set like nothing happened.

@thecoldn8 @Mamiwatar I’m a doctor. Hyperthyroidism doesn’t cause you to look like you’ve had a bad nose job, fillers, buccal fat pad removal, etc. The most cosmetically noticeable change is usually eye bulging (exophthalmos), which she doesn’t have.

@putemupcdukes The AFL was not a failure. It was the most spectacularly successful upstart league in history.
English

Is it a failure if the PGA is paying more now because they finally value their talent? Is it a failure if, more golfers benefit from his sacrifice of putting his career on the line? BTW he already had tens of millions of dollars.
He had the courage to take the chance to change the system. Heo did, regardless if LIV is going bye bye. The ABA helped the NBA, The AFL helped the NFL . He helped Golf by calling out the PGA.
But that ...is not failure. He moved the sport forward.
John Nucci@JNucci23
Can’t help but think about what LIV did to Phil’s legacy. He was universally loved by golf fans. A sure fire Ryder Cup Captain. A lock for a broadcasting career making tens of millions of dollars. Instead, he’ll be (mostly) remembered for LIV and its failure.

@secrettourpro Bring back Bryson! He’s a star. Stars bring in money. Everyone wins. This isn’t a hard decision.

@CinemaTweets1 That movie would have been a lot better if it was actually edited like a real movie. It was about 1.5 hours too long,
