Part 3... Every Wednesday, 10am–12pm Stretford Public Hall, South Manchester Packed with improv games, sketches & proper belly laughs. Women in recovery from alcohol and / or drug use can attend for any number of weeks. It’s completely FREE.

Part 2..as someone 12+ years in recovery myself, I know how powerful it is to have spaces that aren’t clinical or heavy, but focused on creativity, laughter & being fully present. Comedy becomes more than laughter. It becomes voice. It becomes self-belief.

Injecting some Ali energy into a research celebration event. 9 months of graft, final presentations in front of academics & the like (daunting!), followed by reflection, laughter & lightness. Proud to bookend this brilliant journey.

Supported by NIHR, Lancaster University and the NHS, the programme blends learning, mentorship and co-production with residents to strengthen local services. Honoured to be part of this for the third time — and very much looking forward to welcoming the fourth cohort in June.

Blackpool Researching Together (Health Determinants Research Collaboration – HDRC) runs the Health Inequalities Research Capacity and Capability (HIRCC) programme, empowering local, public health and voluntary sector staff to use research to tackle health inequalities.

I love watching people step into their final presentations — nervous, proud, brilliant — and seeing how a bit of silliness (me) can gently shift the room into a different energy. It’s what I do.

Day two: reflection, digestion, and making sense of everything that’s just happened. They bring me in to bookend the whole thing — to lift the energy, keep it flowing, add play, laughter and lightness… without losing the respect this work deserves.

Day one: groups sharing their research journeys and final presentations — after nine months of graft — in front of academics, lecturers, council folk and other very clever humans. Daunting stuff.
