Since the start of the war on 28 February, Islamic Republic authorities have announced the arrests of over 2,000 people and IHRNGO has recorded 38 arrests which include human rights defenders and political activists. IHRNGO expresses deep concern regarding the safety of detainees under wartime conditions and warns of a further intensification of repression in the coming weeks. Mahmood Amiry-Moghaddam, Director of the organisation, stated: “The widespread wave of arrests in recent weeks, particularly the detention of civil activists during wartime, once again demonstrates that the Islamic Republic views the Iranian people as the primary threat to its survival.” He added: “While the government’s security and military centres have become targets of attacks, the authorities, by continuing to detain and transfer individuals under such conditions, are effectively using citizens as human shields and deliberately placing their lives at risk.” iranhr.net/en/articles/86…

Shakila Ghasemi, a 26-year-old Baha’i woman in Kerman, was arrested after a security raid on her home. There is currently no information about her whereabouts. 🎥 Rare Interview With Iran Protester and Crackdown Eyewitness @RyanGrim speaks with a woman who marched in Tehran on Thursday, January 8 she was visiting to spend time with family. She told Drop Site she is not part of any professional activist network. The woman described the march as massive and of nearly unprecedented size, and said it faced little resistance from security forces, though reports elsewhere in the city suggest clashes did turn violent. A second march followed on Friday. Her friends saw people fall from gunfire, though she did not witness it herself. On Saturday, authorities sent text messages warning the public that another demonstration would be met with force. “Saturday was – I don’t think I’ll ever forget Saturday,” she said. After the massacre, Tehran went quiet. Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said today that “several thousand” people were killed in the protests. youtu.be/KG4-jgsM2M4?si…
