Special Edition: THE GOOD, THE BAD, THE UGLY I started to draft the second edition of THE GOOD, THE BAD, THE UGLY and by chance I ran into a post by one artist that had reposted another artist. I read this post… it did not sit right with me for some reason. I did some digging around. And all I saw was THE BAD, THE UGLY Similarities: Both Iranians, out of Iran in safe locations, both promoting and getting decent sales, both profited by creating art about the sad events going on in their country, both not in favor of war; sometimes reposting some pretty convoluted posts from others, both make no mention of the suffering of the thousands of people that are opposed to the Islamist regime; aside for concern for their immediate family members. I therefore conclude… If the artists are not actively on the side of the Iranian people demanding freedom, new leadership, and an end to the Islamist regime… then by definition, they have chosen the other side. There is no comfortable third option here. Option 1. They are either standing with the protesters risking their lives against repression, the blackout (since January 8, 2026), the killings, and the suffocating theocracy... Option 2. ...or they are standing with the regime that is carrying out the crackdown, silencing people/artists inside Iran, and enforcing the very conditions that have left people huddling in fear. Continuing to sell their regular art in the safe places they are from XXXX and XXXX, while also creating and profiting from new pieces about the “sad events,” sharpens the contradiction. They enjoy full freedom of expression, internet access, and commercial opportunity that their “artist sisters and brothers” inside are denied, yet their posts favor the side responsible for that denial. I am highlighting direct moral accounting here friends: You are not the ones wearing the black robe and holding the AK-47 screaming at “traitors.” You are also not the ones living hour-to-hour in terror under the regime’s boot. But by choosing not to support the people’s demand for freedom and peace, your actions and words place you on the regime’s side… all while you profit from the safety and markets the regime denies to those still trapped inside. That is a legitimate point I raise. Freedom and peace for Iran cannot be advanced by those who rhetorically (and commercially) align against the majority who want the theocracy gone. Just… THE BAD, THE UGLY on this edition
