Pupdate: after weeks of chemo and prednisone, today's ultrasound revealed a deep internal tumor, inoperable; it affects her aorta, though only peripherally at this point. Recommendation: a radiology consult, and love her all you can, right now.

Pupdate: the consult with her oncologist was very sad. Another mast cell tumor is growing at the end of her surgery site; this may well be systemic now. Please hope that it isn't, and that the chemo will begin to eradicate and shrink what's there so it may be completely removed.

Pupdate: it was another mast cell tumor. Not breast cancer, but not the good news we'd hoped for. Chemotherapy begins soon. I'll be off X, but will let you know how she is faring. Please think and hope all the best for this lovely, good girl dog, only 6 years old. Thank you. 🙏

Pupdate: yawny and sleepy. Thirsty, hungry, in sweet good spirits, and clearly much relieved. Clean bedding daily; toys and her favorite antler bone for comfort; no other dogs near; happily at the feet of her favorite human, my husband.

Surgery went well; the growth was larger and deeper than the doctor had thought it would be, but was intact: no explosion, no spidery fingers. It was able to be peeled out intact, and they are sending the whole thing for biopsy. Beauty's vet also removed the surrounding 1/3

Seuk Kim was a hero: devoted animal rescuer; intrepid pilot. Recently he flew supplies to North Carolina and returned with rescue dogs. It is heart-shattering that he has died at Windham Mountain in the Catskills, his plane almost to Albany.

@mthai Politicization of this is unfortunate. Kanchana suggested that chained elephants in small "parks" are better off than at ENP--clearly false no matter how you view it. If Lek made strategic mistakes in the flood, that is one thing. The superior quality of life at ENP is another.
