@AliceClevely Physiotherapists are crucial members of the MDT, but having a consultant role in headache is quite dodgy. “Specialist Physiotherapist” would be the appropriate title.

PAs have already infested the medical profession—old news. But can somebody tell me what the role of a Consultant Physiotherapist in Headache actually entails? Do they get paid as consultants?

The Med Reg@MedRegoncall1

☠️ Hello St George’s Hospital team @geshNHS, Since when are we allowing Physician Assistants to conduct neurology specialist clinics and prescribe medications for migraine such as TOPIRAMATE, especially when one of the PATIENTS nearly lost their VISION? ⭕️ PAs do not have prescribing rights, so how was this medication prescribed? ⭕️ Did they discuss it with their neurology Regs/ Consultants? The patient was significantly harmed, and no one discussed potential adverse events (even if rare). A Freedom of Information request is coming your way to find out how many patients were thrown under the bus during your PAs’ experimentation.

@thosethatcan Well known supermarket age 17, worked behind the meat/fish counter. A customer tried to grab my knife in an angry fashion to show me how to cut the sirloin just so. Terrifying 😬

If you’ve worked in retail, pls could you share some ‘worst customer’ stories? A woman shouted repeatedly at my 17yo today on her second day working at M&S for rolling rather than folding a jumper and made her cry. Exercises in resilience. Humour has (almost) saved the day.

@thecsp Thank you for this work. I have been personally impacted by recurrent pregnancy loss and I hope to see all parents in the NHS get the support they need from their employer ❤️ 🌈

@ShaunLintern I worked in NHS occupational health for a while and investment in decent occupational health rehabilitation for all would unlock so much potential here. A huge return on investment I'm sure for the nations economy, just needs the resources behind it @wesstreeting

2.81 million people are economically inactive due to long-term sickness. That's 796,044 higher than the same period in 2019. Long covid, mental health, long waiting lists. This needs real attention.

@neilorpen @julia_tabrah @ashjamesphysio 100%. shared decision making is really valuable as it gives service users informed choice over treatment. The role of manual therapy needs to be well explored so they understand pros and cons of the approach. It's seen as a fix when that's not the reality sadly 😕

@AliceClevely @julia_tabrah @ashjamesphysio And you are correct that the education and examination element is perhaps the more important aspect in many of these situations - but often patients do want to feel an active treatment is offered / this can be done too

@ashjamesphysio⁩ will the CSP be responding to this article in the Daily Mail? Happy to help if I can We need to set the record straight but we also need to reflect on how the public view us and what we can do to prevent people feeling fobbed off dailymail.co.uk/health/article…

@julia_tabrah @ashjamesphysio The main issue these service users have experienced is subpar expectation management and pain education. By them leaving an appointment not fully understanding what is going on they are "disappointed" with an exercise sheet. Not an easy thing in 15 mins though!
