@AliceFromQueens

Home-school valedictorian. I try to respond to every serious reply. The account is not "monetized." Re: blue check: didn't choose it but I've grown to like it.

@PGard0191 @RyanGirdusky Do you know what a school is or not? NYc already has free day care for 3 year olds and it’s very popular. None of your paranoid fantasies apply

@AliceFromQueens @RyanGirdusky And do tell me how the people supervising the children will be vetted. Background Checks? Who will pay the insurance? Mamdani has no money. He is in dire financial straights and cannot begin to afford this. It's more communist pipe-dreams that you just LOVE

A hundred pompous MAGAs are yelling at me for telling them that "libs suck" isn't a theory of mind.
Alice@AliceFromQueens

@xwanyex You guys need to stop with "theory of mind." Absurdly pompous phrase for what you're referring to

@AliceFromQueens They’re lobbying against mandatory arbitration for people injured by self-driving cars. Are you for mandatory arbitration clauses that prevent injured people from suing in real courts?

@FirstDerivative @Jesse_Leg 1/3 income for housing was long consoderdd standard and healthy financially. Many NYc renters pay 50% or more

You do have to feel for all those young, working class New Yorkers making $250k a year who still can’t afford the basic dignities of life: an Equinox membership, daily Sweetgreen, an Oura Ring, the occasional Hillstone Resy, a Taskrabbit housekeeper every now and then, a one-bedroom in a West Village doorman building with in-unit washer/dryer, or—God forbid—a Blade out to the Hamptons sharehouse once a summer.

NYT asks Mayor Mamdani what he thinks constitutes working class. gothamist.com/news/a-doctor-…

@ciphergoth @Jesse_Leg Because it’s a silly question for a mayor. He’s not a New Left Review editor. His answer is irrelevant to policy

Don’t be squeamish! Dems need brutally frank arguments over positions that cost them swing voters But aren’t the two biggest issues here crime & immigration? Most Dems already de facto quit defending affirmative action & are en route to the same wrt teenage trans athletes.
Zaid Jilani@ZaidJilani

What he’s arguing is in sync with the polling though. I think where he’s off is he’s assuming the progressive Democrats always adopt toxic social positions and the establishment doesn’t. It’s a mix really.

@mattyglesias Isnt the real inhibiting factor political risk of backing a divisive potential loser?

The asymmetry in the current factional battle is that Bernie & AOC are actually in Wisconsin supporting the candidate they prefer. Tons of Dem electeds — almost certainly most of them — prefer Stevens, but nobody wants to put in the time or effort to do anything about it.

@jholbo1 @AliceFromQueens @mattyglesias Yep, Harris would be fine. Popular Midwestern governors would be better, but IMO not better enough to risk Biden staying in because advocating to spurn Harris pisses too many people off. I think if it's Harris, that's a good outcome!

I take it @mattyglesias is joking a bit here? I'm not. Most Dems who think they'd care a lot about a Harris snub will discover after a few weeks that they only cared a little. Most are smart enough to care more about the chances of beating Trump in MI, WI & PA.

@AliceFromQueens @mattyglesias I disagree, for more or less the reasons Yglesias gives. She had bad luck being a tough-on-crime prosecutor running in '20. She is the shadows as VP. She got the thankless border portfolio. She sounds pretty good in the clips these days. I doubt she spells doom.

This mean drunk is still mad at me for criticizing Kamala Harris. Every few months, he posts another inebriate dunk. Some Dems will never forgive me for telling them they didn't have to nominate an obvious loser. Their racial neurosis convinced them they had no choice.

@CoreyLeander Mazel tov. But what you needed to read was law review articles. There isn't case law on it or that would be the first thing to read

@AliceFromQueens Novel reasoning from first principles? I dont know what this would mean here. I'm the one that brought it up! Lol. I learned it...from Gordon Wood! Then I proceeded to buy like 40 law books and teach myself con law. Easiest thing I've ever learned.

if I was confused on the time frame, I apologize, but my point is that you gave no indication that you recognized this wasn't a novel bit of information that required novel reasoning from first principles. I learned it from...reading the Constitution. And later reading law review articles
