Immunity for official acts, I would argue, is actually one of the most basic possible propositions you could get from the Constitution. The entire document makes no sense without it. If Congress can make laws which govern what the president is and is not allowed to do with his official power, then they can amend the Constitution without amending it. Simple as that.

2. This means that it would have been extremely hard to prosecute Joe Biden and even harder to convict him. He didn't need immunity. 3. The immunity theory was made up and found nowhere in the Constitution and contrary to its text. This is important!

This is exactly right. The immunity decision was immediately misreported/mischaracterized as a “get-out-of-jail-free card” for Trump and continues to be used as a weapon to attack the Court, even though its real impact was to shield Joe Biden from Trump’s DOJ

I would have written the immunity decision differently but let’s be real: DOJ reindicted Trump on the exact same 4 counts. SCOTUS didn’t shield him; voters did. The person it shielded was Joe Biden. Does anyone doubt this admin would have indicted him for nonsense?

Here's the difference. "Trump" is a family-owned business that has been a family-owned business for 60 (?) years. It had a multi-billion dollar valuation before Donald Trump took office. It is currently run by other family members. "Biden" had no family owned business, and it had no value before he took office. Yet family members made millions expressly trading access to influence, and concealed everything they did through cutouts and off-shore banking. Bill Clinton had pretty much ZERO personal financial wealth when he ran for President. Today he is worth hundreds of millions of dollars. Same for Barack Obama. Yes, being President creates money-making opportunities. "Same as it ever was."
