@LibbyPageWrites It's absolutely true for me, too. I used to look at the other parents who could spend so many more minutes than I could with their tiny lovelies, and wonder how they didn't get as tired and frustrated. It took ages to realise that what I was doing worked for my kids and me.

Every parent is different, but I know for me personally that actually doing less childcare has made me a better mother. I feel happier and more fulfilled. When I'm with him I'm more present, energised and patient. But it's taken me a long time to accept that this is totally OK.

After having talked openly about how insanely hard I found the first year of motherhood I feel like I owe it to anyone going through that stage to say how truly joyful I'm finding it having a toddler. I LOVE being a mum now, something I couldn't have honestly said earlier on.

Family life and writer life don't always go together. In fact, quite a lot of the time, the deep writerly thoughts that I have (such as those are) are lost... But there are moments that I hold on to and that make me want to write afterwards, when it's quiet....
