Insecure people strive to prove their intelligence. They're quick to assure us that they have the answer—they're determined to be right. Secure people aim to improve their intelligence. They're quick to speak up when they have questions—they're focused on getting it right.

The hallmark of expertise is no longer how much you know. It's how well you synthesize. Information scarcity rewarded knowledge acquisition. Information abundance requires pattern recognition. It's not enough to collect facts. The future belongs to those who connect dots.

To everyone who has been shocked and depressed by the staggering 40% cut to the BRAIN Initiative: we have a voice! Outside Witness Testimony (aka written testimony) for the FY 2025 appropriations cycle is ongoing. Deadline for the House side is Friday May 3 and the Senate side is Friday May 24. Let's all write in with our thoughts about what this cut means for scientific progress and for medical advances to help patients suffering the most devastating neurological and psychiatric illnesses. Please see instruction links and more information here: House Outside Witness Testimony: appropriations.house.gov/sites/evo-subs… Senate Outside Witness Testimony: appropriations.senate.gov/imo/media/doc/… Please RT @SfNtweets @MichaelJFoxOrg @alzassociation @alsassociation

This is a landmark achievement that will open the door for many future investigations of the brain’s function, development and evolution. Congrats to everyone who has contributed to this monumental effort. Big thanks to the @NIH #studyBRAIN Initiative for supporting this project.

The first cellular map of a mammalian brain is here. 🧠✨ Over 6 years and 32 million cells in the making, the complete adult mouse brain cell-type atlas reveals astonishing diversity and regional specificity. Dive deeper: alleninstitute.org/scientists-unv… @nature #studyBRAIN #BICCN

What makes the human brain unique? Most diseases of the human brain are only seen in humans. By understanding what makes the human brain different, we can understand more about these unique diseases. #studyBRAIN #BICCN
