the dot work origin - art made purely from dot works and strokes by @DKashtalyan
one dot. then another. then another. onchain - the beaks
there are certain kind of art that are extremely unique and particular not because of the colors or the composition
its because something in it feels earned. like the person who made it has been somewhere, seen something, survived something and the work is the proof.
that is the first thing you feel when you encounter Dima Kashtalyan's art.
there is a technique called stippling. It is the art of building an entire image from individual dots thousands of them, placed by hand, one dot at a time until something alive emerges.
and this is one of the most demanding disciplines in visual art, where there is no undo or any form of shortcut, or ways to fake the hours.
it is the kind of process that reveals character. you cannot do this work without patience. you cannot do this work without intention. and you certainly cannot do it for twenty years without having something real to say.
about @DKashtalyan
born in belarus, based now in warsaw, his journey as an artist carries the kind of weight that doesn't come from art school curricula or residency programs. it comes from living through something.
he kept building a body of work, a work that went everywhere
murals stretched 25 metres high across walls in Romania. his illustrations ran in The New York Times, Harper's Magazine, MIT Technology Review.
his exhibitions landed in Taipei, Rotterdam, London, Barcelona, Warsaw. brands like Lavazza and Vista Jet came calling. the Royal Watercolour Society in London showed his work.
this is not an artist who built his name inside Web3. this is an artist who built his name in the real world, the hard way, over a long time, and the credentials speak for themselves without needing any hype to carry them.
this brings us to web 3, and this is exactly where it gets interesting. dima is bringing his art, technique onchain as an NFT
and now the nft space is quietly and seriously looking for legitimacy, artworks by original artist, actual artist, actual craft, actual bodies of work that existed before web3 did and will exist long after any particular cycle ends.
collectors who are still here who have always believed in this technology could do something meaningful for art: they are waiting for the artists who deserve that technology to actually show up.
and Kashtalyan just showed up
@thebeaksart The Beaks is Kashtalyan's first onchain collection.
1,111 pieces. surreal, precise and deeply symbolic
each piece carries the full visual language he has spent twenty years developing
the dotwork, the vibrating textures, the imagery that sits somewhere between the personal and the universal, between the political and the poetic.
and this is the first chapter of a universe two decades in the making, finally given a home on the blockchain.
"so when dima says from the walls to the market"
this is a literal description of a journey. from 25 metre murals painted on building faces across Europe to 1,111 pieces coming to Ethereum
same hand. same dots. same discipline. just a different surface.
so collecting a piece of The Beaks is not buying a JPEG, it is stepping into everything that came before it the turmoil, the resilience, the years of work done in obscurity before any gallery or publication or blockchain took notice.
it is owning a chapter of a story that was already being written long before this moment existed.
web3 has been waiting for an artist like this.
The Beaks is 1,111 pieces. Coming On Ethereum Mainnet, OpenSea.

..@veluminaART whitelist applications are finally live and I had to put together a piece inspired by their surreal dreamlike aesthetic ✨
Blended fragments of their art into something that feels like architecture suspended between galaxies and memory.

phew!
entering into this contest, honestly wasn't sure what and who to expect to participate in this contest. but after seeing so much creatives push the walls and boundaries of creativity, i decided to stick to what i know best.
blending conceptualism of what i saw with what i'm familiar with and that's none other than animes.
seeing the @thebeaksart for the first time, it struck me as something like, i believe i've lived this moment before. kept trying to figure out where i had seen similar characters before, then i remembered.
- dr giovanni from fire force &
- the dread doctors from teen wolf. (s5)
i know it's wild but ngl, that was exactly where my mind drove right to, which instigated a new question in me which is, @DKashtalyan , did you by any chance play a role in the curation in those anime/movie characters at any point in time because, it can't be a mere coincidence, right??
talks aside, here is my entry for the @thebeaksart contest. hope its worthy of being hanged and stared at when walking along the holy hall of fame where existing beaks breathes🫶🏾
