Been digesting everything last couple of days. What a cricketer Ben Stokes is/was (hard to use past tense). In my mind I’ve separated his legacy feats from what happened days 4/5 at Trent Bridge when the match went down in a sorry, torrid blaze, rather than a blaze of glory. 1/👇🏼

And New Zealand are a smart cricket team. Daryl Mitchell’s innings was a winner in every sense. Played the situation. The Black Caps won the match their way. 👏🏼

A McCullum & Brook combo could be a winning, all out thrilling combination for the England white ball team. But if the batting ethos of slogging to success in Test ckt continues, some talented players may just bludgeon their way to oblivion. Neither they nor fans deserve that.
