And so it continues. Another former England captain in Mike Atherton has joined N.Hussain, D.Gower, M.Vaughan and A.Strauss in backing Alex Carey.
Unfortunately shock jocks like @piersmorgan continues to roll out 80 year old former cricketers to support his agenda.
English

@wutube What on earth are you on about? The captain has no control over whether to allow a runner, it’s just not allowed. Nor do they have control over deflected overthrows crossing the boundary. You conclude in a sweeping and childish fashion. It’s adorable if nothing else
English

Please. He didn’t share the 2019 World Cup with NZ (and no one would expect him to). He wouldn’t give Nathan Lyon a runner. Rules are rules. It feels like England want to define when spirit of cricket is invoked - and others play to that line. We’ve seen that before. #Ashes

@vikrantgupta73 And now we look to MS as not only one of the great cricketers of our time, but, more importantly, a role model and one of the great ambassadors for our game
English

Remember the Ian Bell incident, Trent Bridge 2011, India vs England? An almost similar run out but the crowd booed and English commentators cried during Tea break and Sachin Tendulkar prompted Dhoni to recall Bell.
India lost the Test. And nobody gave them any Spirit of the Game medal

@CFCBlues_com I’m sorry, Klopp and Arteta didn’t have the level of players Chelsea have at the beginning. Imo they don’t even have that quality now. The way he manages the media is atrocious. He doesn’t fit Chelsea’s culture and needs to resign
English

@the_topspin As soon as you remove the concept of the spirit of cricket ie playing the game fairly, you allow behaviour of this kind to creep into the game. Like common law, just because it’s not in black and white doesn’t mean precedent shouldn’t impact the way we play
English

@JackRuleLD Here’s a few more: switch hitting? Reverse sweeping? Trigger movements? Bowling from wide of the crease? For me, it’s completely arbitrary for the non-striker to stay in their crease. All of the examples above have a far greater impact on the outcome of the delivery
English

@WG_RumblePants @mrdipeshashah @GeorgeDobell1 @docmadhu82 Morgan stamped his authority on the team by refusing to select Hales. I can only see it as a sign of weak leadership if Jos was to select him. I agree that he’s ‘done his time’ so to speak. But there’s a lot of talent out there and an opportunity here to show strong leadership
English

@mrdipeshashah @GeorgeDobell1 @docmadhu82 Not sure how it’s Stokes’s decision when Buttler is white ball captain. Stokes will inevitability have a view, but how much it will count in this context is a matter of conjecture. If Buttler wants Hales to play, I suspect that will matter far more than what Stokes thinks.

@BumbleCricket Bumble, you get packed crowds and great viewing figures at exhibition prize fights. Not the same as a world title fight though! Cheers
English

Not sure you can call it Cowboy cricket when the grounds are full and viewing figures are exceptional

@KristopherCous4 @BumbleCricket Yes but thought formats were supposed to be played in blocks? Get rid of 100 or Blast. Room for 1 Cowboy Cricket format not 2.
