I’m so glad the Ryder Cup analysis is starting to fade. I find it exhausting 😂 But as a Long Islander I will say this… You have no idea what’s coming at Bethpage in 2025. Like none 🤪

And so it continues. Another former England captain in Mike Atherton has joined N.Hussain, D.Gower, M.Vaughan and A.Strauss in backing Alex Carey. Unfortunately shock jocks like @piersmorgan continues to roll out 80 year old former cricketers to support his agenda.

@wutube What on earth are you on about? The captain has no control over whether to allow a runner, it’s just not allowed. Nor do they have control over deflected overthrows crossing the boundary. You conclude in a sweeping and childish fashion. It’s adorable if nothing else

@vikrantgupta73 And now we look to MS as not only one of the great cricketers of our time, but, more importantly, a role model and one of the great ambassadors for our game

Remember the Ian Bell incident, Trent Bridge 2011, India vs England? An almost similar run out but the crowd booed and English commentators cried during Tea break and Sachin Tendulkar prompted Dhoni to recall Bell. India lost the Test. And nobody gave them any Spirit of the Game medal #Ashes #Bairstow

@CFCBlues_com I’m sorry, Klopp and Arteta didn’t have the level of players Chelsea have at the beginning. Imo they don’t even have that quality now. The way he manages the media is atrocious. He doesn’t fit Chelsea’s culture and needs to resign

Seeing Chelsea accounts tweet that they want to lose to Tottenham breaks my heart. I just cannot see how a Chelsea supporter can want our team to lose to our biggest rivals.

@bbctms It’s a more difficult task for sure. Whether it’s ‘bigger’ historically is questionable. Unless the Aussies have accepted their place in the pecking order?

@the_topspin As soon as you remove the concept of the spirit of cricket ie playing the game fairly, you allow behaviour of this kind to creep into the game. Like common law, just because it’s not in black and white doesn’t mean precedent shouldn’t impact the way we play

@JackRuleLD Here’s a few more: switch hitting? Reverse sweeping? Trigger movements? Bowling from wide of the crease? For me, it’s completely arbitrary for the non-striker to stay in their crease. All of the examples above have a far greater impact on the outcome of the delivery

Just playing devils advocate here but why should fielders be allowed to walk in when a delivery is being bowled also. That foot or 2 they walk in could be the difference between a catch or a boundary!!

Great compliment paid to Charlie Dean by India. They couldn’t get her out any other way. Still, lesson is stay in your crease when Deepti is bowling.

I’m not an economist but it strikes me that the very last thing we should be doing right now is slashing taxes. Liz Truss is taking one of the biggest gambles in modern political history to get us out of this crisis. I hope it works but fear it could fail disastrously.

The pride and joy I felt at helping the team to win the Champions League and the Club World Cup will stay with me forever. I am honoured to have been a part of this club’s history and the memories of the last 19 months will always have a special place in my heart.

This is one of the most difficult statements I have ever had to write - and it is one which I hoped I would not need to do for many years. I am devastated that my time at Chelsea has come to an end.

@WG_RumblePants @mrdipeshashah @GeorgeDobell1 @docmadhu82 Morgan stamped his authority on the team by refusing to select Hales. I can only see it as a sign of weak leadership if Jos was to select him. I agree that he’s ‘done his time’ so to speak. But there’s a lot of talent out there and an opportunity here to show strong leadership

@mrdipeshashah @GeorgeDobell1 @docmadhu82 Not sure how it’s Stokes’s decision when Buttler is white ball captain. Stokes will inevitability have a view, but how much it will count in this context is a matter of conjecture. If Buttler wants Hales to play, I suspect that will matter far more than what Stokes thinks.
