I'm more surprised that a pre-2015 Macbook Air is still going.
Apple put themselves in a corner especially with the Air market.
Any casual user with an M1 Air is not upgrading this decade.
The pros have a small edge. Because Pro users will always demand more.

Most of my clients runs into the same exact problem with their Hotwire Native apps.

It's become disgustingly obvious. After talking to loads of $10K-$100K MRR iOS app developers and dissecting their businesses... I'm very confident that successful mobile apps come down to: 1. great onboarding 2. that leads to some sort of hard paywall 3. with the balls to not offer a free plan ofc you need solid product and distribution to get those users in the door but, the customer and the money is mostly made right after install.

I still believe macOS is still the best OS for devs. You can install PostgreSQL and set up a Rails DB that connects seamlessly—no user/password issues. Try that on Linux and you'll spend the day troubleshooting. I’ve had enough problems with Linux to know I’m not going back.
