@Jensen_Utah @SaveStandard The concern I have is the kids getting on the bus in the dark instead. Too many are crossing dark roads to get to the bus stop. I looked at the 7am time slot a few years back, and standard time has the least dark days over the school year.

Mr. President, Daylight Saving Time forces Americans to wake an hour earlier than Standard Time and does not create more daylight. Permanent Daylight Saving Time would make winter mornings dangerously dark, with some sunrises occurring as late as 9am. For the sake of public health, safety, and better sleep, please restore permanent Standard Time!

@tvheidihatch That's the job of the PIO and media to do. The media don't need to know sensitive info like patient info (HIPAA) and also real time LE operations. It is dangerous to responders. Why can't folks be more patient for releases? Media also arent trained to understand jargon.

I am not a fan of moving to encryption, it is difficult for newsrooms to know what is going on across the state. We already cover the largest geographic area of any television market. Many Cities and Counties in Utah have already moved to encryption. I would like to see departments work with news organizations to allow for media access for transparency.

UTAH CD2 RACE: Congressman Blake Moore is solidly in the lead in his GOP primary according to new internal polling. New Tarrance Group poll (May 11-14): Moore 63% Lisonbee 29% (+34 point lead) Moore has President Trump’s endorsement and strong approval ratings. Lisonbee, challenging Moore over his past support for Better Boundaries redistricting, has backing from House Speaker Mike Schultz — but the poll shows most Republican voters still don’t know her. The primary is a month out on June 23rd #UTPOL

James Madison described the powers of the federal government as “few and defined” and those reserved to the states as “numerous and indefinite.” We’ve been dangerously drifting from that understanding since the 1930s. The drift has been most evident in areas now most fraught with waste, fraud, and abuse. If we honored the Constitution’s limits on federal power, there’d be very little waste, fraud, and abuse in our national government. Share if you’d like to see a “constitutional reset,” in which any government function that’s not obviously and necessarily federal under the Constitution would be returned “to the states respectively, or to the people,” as the Tenth Amendment specifies.

The problem with Thomas Massie is that he’s not a team player. He lets his own mind get in the way of the greater good of the party and we can’t afford that on tough votes. He thinks he’s the main character when he’s not. If I could vote in that primary I’d vote against him and for Ed.

From my understanding, the Utah Data center if projected to generate $250 million annually in tax revenue to Box Elder County and MIDA for the State. This would be much more palatable for everyone if: 1. Use the money to pay the property taxes indefinitely for the current residents of Box Elder County (not new move ins) 2. The remainder is used to build new pipelines and buy water rights from other states that have a surplus, to refill all of our reservoirs. Most people would support this.

Utah deserves FULL TRANSPARENCY on the Box Elder Stratos Project BEFORE we move forward. The 40,000-acre hyperscale data center + on-site natural gas power plant (up to 9 GW, more than DOUBLE Utah’s current total electricity use) was fast-tracked and approved by Box Elder County on May 4 with minimal public input or published studies. Protests, water rights protests (nearly 4,000 filed, leading to withdrawal of the initial app), and referendums show the public wants answers, not promises. One of the many critical issues & questions that MUST be answered publicly, with independent studies, data, and verifiable details, for real transparency: 1. WATER: Exact projected consumption at full buildout? Closed-loop/dry cooling claims sound good, but where’s the published hydrologic analysis, independent review, or proof of “net-zero”/“zero water turbine” tech? Water rights app withdrawn after massive protests , when will the refiled application and full impact data (on aquifers, Great Salt Lake watershed, and existing ag rights) be released for public comment?
Just Phil Lyman@phil_lyman

Data Centers are sold not bought. We deserve to know the details about all the massive data centers being proposed in Utah.

@DJT_1_2020 @BasedMikeLee The CIA doesn't have subpoena power, nor any "legitimate" power within the US borders, so maybe they should be staying in their own lanes.

@BasedMikeLee Would you feel the same if the CIA subpoenaed your staff for closed door interviews? How about the DOJ? Or are these separation of powers? You can't have it both ways, you are a Dysfunctional Branch of the Government and need to stay in your lane.

With all due respect, no federal agency—not even the CIA—gets to tell the Senate what questions it may ask in a duly convened legislative hearing. The CIA is facing serious accusations, and telling the Senate it can’t look into these issues only heightens legitimate suspicions. @CIADirector needs to appear before the Senate immediately to respond in public to these and other serious accusations about the agency he’s leading.
Liz Lyons@CIASpox

The Committee acted in bad faith by subpoenaing an Agency officer for testimony today without notifying CIA, despite having already obtained closed-door testimony from the individual previously. The witness testifying today is not appearing as a whistleblower in pursuit of the truth, but instead in response to the subpoena issued by Chairman Paul. This proceeding amounts to nothing more than dishonest political theater masquerading as a congressional hearing. As the CIA has already assessed, COVID-19 most likely originated from a lab leak, and efforts to undermine that conclusion are disingenuous.

@GregoryKal42698 @ThomasSowell The Andes variant, which this is, has documented human-to-human transmission since something like the '90s. So while probable in this case, it's not something anyone outside of the cruise ship should be concerned about.

@ThomasEWoods @romanhelmetguy Can't you imagine a scenario where in a government-less society, two companies merge and are bigger than their competition. Then due to their larger size they start buying out their competition and therefore naturally heading towards monopoly?

This is her dumbest take. Monopolies form naturally. Monopolies are much more profitable than competitive industries. So if you find yourself in a competitive industry, it makes sense to buy out or collude with all your competitors, or to temporarily take a loss in order to drive them out of business. The government itself is a naturally-forming monopoly on violence. Ayn Rand is frequently guilty of this kind of magical thinking in which everything would be perfect if the government just disappeared. Well, there are still large parts of Africa today in which there is effectively no government. Is it utopia? Meanwhile the Industrial Revolution could not have taken place without the financial incentives put in place by intellectual property law such as patents, which require an incredibly strong government to enforce. The right really needs to get away from this whole “everything the government does is bad” loser mindset.
Sowell Economics@sowelleconomics

Ayn Rand: "Under a free system, no one could acquire a monopoly on anything. If you look at economics, and economic history, you will discover that all monopolies have been established with government help."

The facts are clear: America’s beef cattle herd is at its lowest level since the 1950s. As of January 1, we have just 27.6 million head of beef cows. Over the past decade alone, we’ve lost more than 17% of our cattle ranchers, with over 100,000 ranches disappearing across the country. This is the reality we inherited — driven by the radical left’s climate alarmism, years of drought, wildfires, market volatility, and overregulation. @POTUS and this administration are committed to reversing that trend — strengthening the American beef industry, supporting our ranchers, and preserving this way of life for the next generation. 🇺🇸🥩
